    University of Gloucestershire opinions
So is anyone studying here atm or know someone who is? Please share your opinions as I am considering studying here 2013 for history, I am attending the 16th june open day . Honest opinions really are welcome and I realise the grades to get in are quite low BBC which does suit me quite well.

Also considering: oxford brookes, UWE , Canterbury Christ Church, Bath Spa so any info on these helps too!

    Thanks

Well, I'm not so sure about the uni, as I'm only at sixth form, but I live very close to the uni (well... Oxtalls campus). If there is any information about nightlife, or the area, just say and I will let you know!

Tell you something though... MooMoo's nightclub in Cheltenham is the place to be on a Monday night! 3 drinks for the price of 1!

Yes, the cost of living is pretty good I think! Loads of supermarkets! Do you have any idea as to what campus you would be at? I know there is one in central Cheltenham, then one in the outskirts of central Gloucester. There are a few others dotted around I believe, but the 2 I said about are the main ones.

You have the 94 bus, which is also the 94U (94 Uni) which is as nice as a bus gets! Hand stitched leather seats! Sounds sad, but for a bus, it is nice!

Let me know what campus your at and I will let you know more about what stores and stuff are near by!

Less than that! Probably about 5 mins! Just looked at google maps as to where it exactly is and it won't take you long at all to walk to the centre! Just over the road and down a bit you have a open air complex called The Brewery. Really nice there. There is a Dwell shop, Ciniworld cinema, Apres (Bar), Harvester, Frankie and Bennies, Nandos, Chiquitos (where I will be working soon ) The real china (chinese buffet) Fitness First gym, Prezzo, and Ruby Tuesdays (a new american diner. Big in the US, but this is the second one in the UK).

If you walk though here to the end and on to the high street (lower) there is loads of takeaways. A little bit further (about a min walk) there is a tesco express. That tesco could be a Metro actually... what ever it is, it is a fair size!

Cheltenham has all the usual shops. Boots, WHSmith, and all the standard clothes shops! Regent Arcade is quite nice, has loads of shops in there. You then have the Promenade. Really nice the prom, Cav house (House of Fraser) is on the prom along with a load of other 'high end' shops. Jack Wills, Hotel Chocolate, Kuoni, White Stuff, Jewellers and that stuff. Walk down the promenade more (still we are about max of a 10 min walk from your campus) you will get to Montpelier. This is the posh area! haha!

Things to know about for days out are the Montpelier Gardens and the Beer Gardens... nice to sit in the sun with friends! Also you have the Lido - http://www.sandfordparkslido.org.uk/ This is good for a nice hot day out! I warn you, only go when it is warm! The lido is 'heated' but I think their definition of heat is a candle that has been lit then thrown in! It is pretty cold! Plenty of mad people in there though! The also do a special event on Christmas day... the winter swim. The people who do this are mad!

ummm... trying to think of anything else... NIGHTLIFE! Not sure how keen you are on nightlife, but I will say some stuff about it anyway! Here in Cheltenham, we have 2 main clubs. MooMoo's/Fever and also Kukui. MooMoos and fever are 2 clubs but they are run by the same people. No one goes in Fever as it is pretty crap, but MooMoo's is the best in Cheltenham in my opinion. As I said before, mondays is 3-4-1. This means the messiest nights ever! ha! Guest list closes at 10.30, so get there before then as it gets BUSY! You then have Kukui. This is like a hawian theme Tiki theme. Sounds corny, but it is well done. I have been there a few times now, but I can't help but think that it is a bar rather than a club. Moomoos is a club!

What else to say?! Other little events that I do with friends is the Haunted Hayride at Over Farm Market in Gloucester! REALLY good fun at Halloween! Pretty scary though! haha!

In Cheltenham town centre, there is the Tesco Express/Metro, a LIDL's, an Iceland. There is also a CoOp at the end of the Promenade and Montpelier. Near your campus there is a Matalan... thats about it directly near it! haha! Always good for cheep clothes though!

If there is anything else you want to know, or want to know more about something, let me know!

Gloucesterhsire is my first choice university, I am going in Sept 2012 to do Business Management. The Park campus seems to be nice (even in the rain ). I would advise you to go to a university where you feel comfortable in going but also has a good reputation too. UoG for me has both of these things that I was looking for. Hope your search goes well for you!
