What is with the BTEC hating trolls? They must be doing really well in there A levels to take time out visit the section of the forum that doesn't concern them and start trolling. Anyways I would say that A levels may seem "harder" with the fact they have to take many exams but there is a lot of coursework in a BTEC and i mean ALOT. Many of my assignments were 50 + pages long and theirs 3 assignments per unit and 18 units (I did IT system & Network extended diploma). Also the fact that we are studying something truly specific means that when we go on to university to study that subject further it should surely give us a better platform that some one who studies sociology french and PE.

Or maybe you'd think A levels are harder because you can choose 3 - 5 A levels which each can be entirely different from each other like Geography and ICT like I did.

It's "BTEC". Learn to capitalize, you retard.

Just in case you did not know. You start sentences with capitals and you talk about ones self with a capital I.

I guess you got as far as A-levels but you weren't skilled enough to do a BTEC.

    Pathetic.

    Wow.

I've done both A Levels and BTEC's and without revision i was able to achieve A*AA in A Levels where as the BTEC was much harder due to continuous work to keep gradess high. BTEC shows dedication and no one can achieve a D*D*D* in a BTEC without giving 100%. Jealousy will get you no where! :P

Just found out that I will get my BTEC result in August at the same time that A level results get released. I don't know how I am gonna get a job throughout summer because I was relying on my result to come to me before end of July so that I can put the grade on my CV which should increase chance of getting a job. But it seems the only time I am getting a job is during University.

Is that your sixth form/college telling you that you can only get it in August? Push them to let you get the certificates earlier, and explain why. As they will most likely have them by the end of July.

I don't get why you're here if you don't like, care about or even do a BTEC. What's the point? Okay, you say they're pointless, we know that you feel that way now, whether you're right or not. Let's say for the sake of argument that you're right. We know that now so why are you still in here?

Also, nmr1991 I don't understand why you've been told you won't get your results until those doing A Levels get theirs. When I called UCAS and asked them about it all they said they get BTEC results earlier than A Levels, usually in mid-July.

Unfortunately it is up to my college apparently, maybe things have changed because it is a new specification (QCF from 2010).

BTEC results are not released that quickly and it snot a case of your college sending them and the exam boarding typing them up.

All BTEC coursework gets contiual external smapled moderation throughout the course.

After the course finishes the external moderators will extensively remoderate coursework this can take upto two months after the course finishes and the finalisisation of grades

You will get no offcial result or qualification until results day.

You're wrong. Check this link, it will teach you information you need to know before shouting your mouth off: http://www.edexcel.com/quals/BTEC/Pa...sults-day.aspx

This sentence takes what you have said, and makes it invalid. "BTEC students receive their grades on a rolling basis throughout the academic year and will continue to receive their results in this way"

External moderators do check the work, but that's not after the course finishes. Once the course has finished, all the work that has been completed by students is taken away.

I finished my course and have a signed SRF (Student Report Form). That was it. All done. No more. I got my grade and that's that.

You phone the university, noting them of your grade, and that you want to accept the offer, confirming your place. (depending on whether you got the grades needed or not)

When you go to university, and when it all starts, you will show them your SRF form and Certificate, proving to them that you have indeed got the required points.

You don't need to wait two months after you finish. If your college is being slow with actually signing you off, that's because they're not obliged to unless your course has finished.

If it has and they haven't signed you off, then do go to your head of faculty at your college and ask them to do it.

    Just use initiative.
