Is anybody else finding people who're going to Newcastle Unis on facebook before they visit?

Bit of an odd one, just wondering what everyone else's views are on actually "friending" people before you arrive. I think Facebook pages are pretty helpful, there's a few of them knocking around.

Here's a couple I'm using:

Both of these are worth a look, especially now - loads of wall posts from future students, and lots of people successfully finding cousemates!

I'm waiting until after results day, that way I know which uni's page to start posting on. I'll probably then post again looking for flatmates once I get my accommodation offer through. I think that's when there'll be the most people on them.

These things are more commonly used after results day or when accommodation has been sorted out. That's when universities set up their own official pages.
