    DSA equipment
I qualify for DSA and just got my letter through from SFE confirming everything. However it says that if I order equipment before my course starts and do not take up my place I'll have to pay for the equipment. Does 'place' mean at uni in general or my firm offer? It's 100% I'm going to university but unsure whether it's my firm or insurance, am I safe ordering the equipment as I'm sure I'll take up a place at university?

I believe you would need to take up a place a UK university (one that SFE would pay full student finance for, and not on a course that the NHS pays for and so on).

Although you might want to check to be 110% sure, I am pretty sure that as long as you meet all the requirements listed in the form (on full-time or counted part-time course / not getting funding from NHS / etc) you will be fine

Yes it just means a place at uni, I've applied for two MA courses, both at Durham, I haven't decided on which one I want to do yet but when I filled in the forms I put down the course I would prefer. If I decide to choose the other one eg because I get offered funding for that course then its just a case of calling SFE and changing the details of the course.

So if I order my equipment now and don't get into my firm choice (Nottingham) but do get into my insurance (UEA) I'm at no risk of having to pay for the equipment I ordered as I'll still be going to uni?

As far as I'm aware yes. If you're want to be 100% certain, call SFE to get confirmation.

As long as you accept a place somewhere, either your firm, insurance or through clearing, you won't have to pay for your equipment. To be completely sure, ask for it to be delivered to you after results day. But if you are going to accept a place, even through clearing, then get it delivered now

Exactly what the above poster said. If you wait until you have the AS12 letter, your equipment may not be delivered before you start.
