French revolution history exam, help with source question.
I tend to lose marks on the controversy question, which is weird as they give most of the info. I think what I find hard is integrating my own knowledge and using the points from the sources efficiently. Do you have any tips on how to write a good controversy essay?

we are told to only use own knowledge when you're backing up something the source says, and to always refer to the author's name rather than 'source 1'. also if you know other historians who agree with the source such as furet or cobban that will get you higher marks because it shows that there is debate amogst historians regarding the topic. hope this helps x
