Re: Should schools teach healthy ways of self-pleasuring (masturbation)?
I think during the sex ed talks it should be mentioned and they should be told that it's completely normal and healthy and that lots of people do it. The use of the word 'lots' rather than 'basically everyone' is to save embarassment of the teachers by the way.
I think kids actually learning how to masturbate at school is completely unnecessary to be honest. It's a very private thing that teenagers should learn through their own personal discoveries. It's not something that should be explained to them in detail by a teacher using a powerpoint presentation and plastic models. Next they'd be taught about anal sex and what vibrators work best. All the school should tell them about is what happens during puberty and reproduction and differences between men and women, children and adults as well as a brief talk about the consent laws, people of different sexualities (without going into the specific sex acts) and a mature, sensible attitude towards these things should be encouraged. Obviously when they're 12 or 13 and they've worked out the whole 'sex for pleasure' thing, they should be taught about contraception and STI's/STD's. -

Why don't they teach the girls that for some of them achieving orgasm by themselves may be a difficult task and that they should consider using a vibrator. Also that a lady's psychological state is of paramount importance and just going through the mechanical motions, as it were, is not the key to 'success' by itself. That would have saved me a lot (years) of wasted effort and frustration. /TMI?
Will they do that? That's actually useful information right there. Where as 'Listen children, people, they er, masturbate, and er, it's normal. Here's a ridiculous video of a guy spanking the monkey.' isn't really of much use to anyone.*
Mind= blown.
'Also we will not be discussing female masturbation at all.'
'O.k sir.'
Could you imagine the outrage if we had secondary school age children watching videos of women masturbating and then ejaculating.
*I say not much use as i assume boys have worked it out for themselves by age 12/13, when the rather basic video was presented to us. Maybe i'm wrong.
