Has anyone here ever had an addiction?
As the title says really, just curious if any of the good users of TSR have ever suffered from any addiction be it from something like heroin to pain killers to cigarettes or maybe even something more fun like sex

Personally i've had some issues with Diazepam, Codeine and cigarettes and with hindsight would never have touched them with a bargepole ...
feel free to share your stories
and of course being in the health section you can post anonymously if you wish

Re: Has anyone here ever had an addiction?Yeah, runescape does some weird things to people.(Original post by DolallyDucky)
Runescape, self harm & sleeping pills. In one nice tidy bundle.
That's mostly behind me now though

Hardcore porn, started when I was 11 got worse and worse until I just wasn't satisfied with real girls. I'd just masturbate to the most far fetched porn you could imagine: tranny, bdsm, violence etc many times a day. I was so saturated to extreme sex that I found it difficult to even get with girls. I viewed them simply as objects of desire rather than real people.
Decided to quit last year. Haven't viewed any porn at all since then and I've severely cut down my masturbation. I actually feel a lot healthier and have much more pleasurable orgasms.
If I could go back in time I'd never watch porn, it corrupted my mind and ruined my view of sex.
Sure there isn't anything wrong with using pornography but at 11 years old it screws with your head. Maybe if I actually had a decent sex education things would be different.

Damn, you got there before me. That game took up a significant portion of my life.

Re: Has anyone here ever had an addiction?I first heard about that game when I was 11, all the 'kool kids' were playing it, so I decided to try it out at the end of the year, then the next academic year started, I was 12, and everybody was laughing at me for playing that game, and these were the same people who were playing it the year before.

Re: Has anyone here ever had an addiction?I was introduced when I was 8, and was the only person who still played it in my high school and I'm a girl so meh.. Can't say it ever has or will bother me though(Original post by Politricks)

Re: Has anyone here ever had an addiction?
Exercise and calorie counting.
Approx. 17 months ago I strained both of my calf muscles because of compulsive/excessive exercising and I still continued to exercise because I'd become incredibly anxious if I stopped for even one day. I somehow seemed to convince myself that I would put on a load of weight if I skipped a day. At the time I started consuming 700 calories and went down to 500, after which I had to force myself back to 700. 15 months ago I realised that I had developed an eating disorder and I told my sisters who wouldn't believe me, then I told my best friends who were sceptical but didn't wanna say anything so I continued spiralling down - when you have absolutely no support from those who are closest to you, what do you do? I ended up losing 3 dress sizes (went from a 14/16 to a 10ish) and still, my sisters and best friends are sceptical. My sisters did actually confront me about it several months ago, and when I say confront I mean shout, scream and scold.
In the last 11 months I made four/five attempts at getting back to normal but I failed due to relapsing after each attempt. I'm hoping to make my final attempt at getting better this Ramadan.
