Re: Has anyone here ever had an addiction?Small peice of advice, the game was designed for you not to win. Stop playing. Seriously, this is one of the games which has ruined a few peoples lives that I know. It starts off with a tenna and then ends up with them loosing big money. You first put in your tenna, then when you loose you put in twenty pound to try and recover the money you lost and then it just keeps on going in that cycle. Also if you do win anything you never take it out, you just keep on playing with it. Sigh. The only way people leave these games is when they have nothing left to loose, people would sell their shoes if they could.(Original post by tillytots)
Gambling, unfortunately as well it's started recently (January time). I'm addicted to Roulette, play it online at least twice a day, go to the casino after at least 2 of my nights out a week, I don't ever deposit much, like a tenner and usually get some form of win which is lucky, but last week I blew £150 in a day online as I kept losing, then when I got to a high amount I'd just put it all back on the table. It's such a bad habit, takes me only a few wins to get overly cocky with it and blow it all.
Moral of the story, replace this addiction with anything else. Gaming (e.g ps3, xbox, online) could be a better way for you and you would still have your money in your pocket

Re: Has anyone here ever had an addiction? You need to watch House, then.
Been addicted to a few painkillers (tramadol, codeine, morphine). Still on codeine (prescribed) but also do hydrotherapy and physiotherapy to help with my chronic pain.
Was also addicted to Coca-Cola too (went through a box of 24 within 3 days).
Been addicted to both Runescape & WoW. After finishing school in year 11, a friend didn't come out for about a month and a bit, was levelling all his skills to level 99 on Runescape...and then they came out with Summoning..... -

Re: Has anyone here ever had an addiction?
Because all my friends are already at university (had a gap year), I'm still living in a small, rather boring town and there is nothing to do I'm spending like >6 hours a day in front of my computer. I'd say I'm on the way of getting addicted to the internet and whilst I know that this is not a good way to spend my time I know that in a few months this problem will be professionally handled by ... freshers' week

As the title says really, just curious if any of the good users of TSR have ever suffered from any addiction be it from something like heroin to pain killers to cigarettes or maybe even something more fun like sex
Personally i've had some issues with Diazepam, Codeine and cigarettes and with hindsight would never have touched them with a bargepole ...
feel free to share your stories
and of course being in the health section you can post anonymously if you wish

Re: Has anyone here ever had an addiction?
I was addicted to one-arm bandits between the ages of 16 and 18 (while I was still too young to play them).
I was working at the time, earning £18 for 1.5 hrs work a night but blew most of it on the slot machine in the pub where I worked.
I estimate I lost around £3000 over that period of time as a result. -

Re: Has anyone here ever had an addiction?
I'd say I have an addictive personality, like, I've been smoking for ten years since I was eleven, I used to love getting drunk until I decided to just kick it entirely as alcoholism runs in my family, I'd spend weeks at a time constantly high on weed. Luckily I haven't done any of that stuff since for four years now except smoking.

I'm getting my first tattoo in a couple weeks though and I can imagine I'll start getting a little addicted to that.
Other than that I am a fine and dandy person of society.
