What fear are you working towards overcoming?
What fear or phobia do you have, and how are you trying to overcome it if you are? What are your words of wisdom?

For me, after some bad experiences, I haven't been on a train or plane since 2009. I'm trying my best to prep myself for it but struggling to get my mind around actually doing it.

I saw this quote recently and thought it was quite good:

There's always a moment BETWEEN what happens around you & the response you choose. THAT MOMENT decides your happiness and destiny.

My fears are perfectly rational, I don't see why they should be overcome. Fear is a very useful emotion, it helps to keep us safe.

Needles. I have no idea where it came from I used t be fine then something happened and now I freak out. I broke my leg badly when I was 13 and they needed to test my blood before the operation and I had such a panic attack that they had to take it when I was put under.

I would eventually like to give blood, as I would happily receive it, so I should be just as happy to give it.

I've got a pretty bad fear of talking in front of people... common I know, but I don't like speaking even in small groups. But, way back in March, we held a Sixth Form Showcase evening. Most people sang, and one girl did some incredible. I voluntarily signed up to do a comedy sketch which was basically slamming Maths as a subject, and then moving on to English. I was already pretty nervous, and I didnt think it was that funny. Added to this was the fact that BOTH MY OLD TEACHERS FOR MATHS AND ENGLISH were in the audience as they're Sixth Form tutors.

Result? They completely loved it, it became the hot topic of staffroom gossip... one of the RS teachers asked if someone had filmed it and if it was on youtube (thank God they had NOT.)

Despite all this, I still get kinda scared sometimes...

Lucky - my mum's friend's brother fell off a rollercoaster in his childhood and died.

Bet that's helped your fear, huh?

Fire. I can now use a hob (as long as the food doesn't spit), an oven and sit near a fire.

Next on the to do list - Irons! Then maybe lighting a match or lighter, but that terrifies me !
