What?? The Spanish League is the second best in the world, in addition, the combination of Eto, Henry and Messi was also situated in Spain... you can't assume the defenders were of a different standard and even if they were, it would prove to be negligible. Hence, my point still stands; Higuain, Benzema and Ronaldo are the best three attackers to ever play together.
You said that most goals and best minutes per goal secures them as best, I'm just pointing out that you need to take into account other things like their opposition.

Yes and I'm saying their opposition are amongst the best in the world... On top of that, even if their not the absolute best the difference is negligible when it comes to defending against world-class players. Very few players can stop Ronaldo, Higuain and Benzema.

Not your most clinical trio but man were they a joy to watch. And they stuck with Juve after calcipoli

Well, for one, Benz and Higuain aren't on the pitch at the same time normally, so they don't really play together. And normally, players get judged on what they won, not how many goals they scored. These guys haven't won even one European Cup, Di Stefano got 5 in a row and Puskas won 3. They scored 7 goals between them in the 1960 EC final. It is this type of feat that is remembered, not bagloads of goals against rubbish teams and ultimately failure on the biggest stages. As for the defending being of a different standard, well, it clearly is of a lower standard than that year because a injury hit Barca trio also cleared 100 goals. Noone remembers that Gerd Muller scored 67 in a year because he didn't win anything of note that year, they remember that he won the Euros, then the world cup, and then three ECs in a row.

I will revert back to my original statement. Benzema, Higuain and Ronaldo are the best three strikers to play together in football. Obviously not the most successful, but they've won the La Liga (stopped possibly one of the greatest starting-line ups that has ever existed - Barcelona) and they took the Copa off them last year. All they require now is a Champions League and they've won everything. In addition, they're playing in the most competitive generation ever. Back when Stefano did it, all the others teams were poor. Now we have; United, City, Dortmund, Bayern, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Madrid, Barca, Inter, AC Milan, Juventus, Marseille, Benfica, Porto and Lyon.

As for the defending standards, they are good. They just look bad when Messi and Ronaldo are cruising through them, but they do that to the best of defences anyway. Also, if they are so bad, then why were they so successful in Europa League this year?

The reason Barcelona scored a lot without Villa is because they brought in Sanchez, and moved Messi to the CF position. That alone brought in around 75 goals in the La Liga.

Furthermore, the 118 goals was including all competition; champions league included.

Lastly, I think true football fans remember Gerd Muller, I certainly do.

Yes, he was mesmerising yesterday! He was that good that they had to bring on two more attacks to try and get a goal; at which they still failed. Personally, I prefer Gomez.

Just to correct something Messi doesnt play as CF he plays as false number nine, his position hasnt changed since Sanchez came those two have always been stuck out wide.

Having one bad game does make you a crap player I guess.
And lol @ anyone thinking Gomez>RVP.

If RVP had Robben and Ribery playing with him instead of Walcott and Gervinho I'm pretty sure he'd score like 300 goals a season.

Are we talking in terms of just clubs? Because Argentina; Messi, Aguero and Higuain - that coupled with the fact they also have Lavezzi and Tevez. Worth a shout.

People saying it's easier to score in La Liga - there was more goals scored in the premier league this year than La Liga. 1066 goals in Prem, 1050 in Liga this season.
