The (UK living) 3 year rule...??
    Hello,

I have a problem with my loan application and I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience and could give some advice.
I am a regular UK resident but have not lived a full 3 years in the UK prior to start of course, 34months only. As I spent 14 months living/working in Japan.
I am aware the rule is 3 years to qualify for the loan.
I've spoken with student finance and they've told me to send in a letter with evidence of living abroad, which I've done and I've provided work evidence for the 34months since I've been back. I've been told that the decision if I receive the loan or not will be up to the discretion of sfe.

Does anyone know what my chances of receiving the loan may be??
The loan is for a PGCE position at the IOE to begin this sept.
I'm quite worried as have my heart set on training this year.

Thanks for your help, in advance!
    Amal

As you have been told, it will be up to their discretion.

If they turned you down unfortunately you wouldn't have a case for appeal, as the 3 year residency rule is pretty strict.

Was wondering if anyone had had personal experience with such issues.
    Thanks for your reply anyway.
