What do you do when time is running out?
So what do you do in the run-up to an exam that you know you haven't prepared sufficiently for? How do you deal with this situation academically and emotionally? What are your priorities?

I procrastinated so much for my AS sociology exam this summer and concentrated on my other exams a lot more. I got to the point the day before the exam where I decided enough was enough and did the whole of the unit's revision in one day. I think I work better under pressure and probably did more revision in that one day than I would have done if I had revised every day before that.

Depends on how important it is. I'm only at GCSE level, I'm expecting A*A*A*A*AADDD. I have very little time to turn the Ds into higher grades, but still time. I won't be doing this though, I'm just completely demotivated and the fact that I don't even need them to get into my sixth form doesn't exactly encourage me. I just take the easy way out.

It depends how much time there is left. If there were one or two days, I'd start cramming. Half a day or less... probably still attempt to cram a bit, but not at the expense of sleeping/ eating/ etc. I'd resign myself to the fact that I'm unlikely to pass this time around and try to keep calm.

The priority would be to keep myself in a frame of mind where I am calm and can take the exam, however likely/ unlikely I am to pass it, and not think about results until they come out. There's no point in panicking and you never know, things from class might pop back into your head as you do the exam, even if you haven't revised.

Basically my thought process would be something like "I know this is going to be s*** but I will take the exam anyway and see what happens"

But in reality I would just do the preparation in advance and not get myself into that situation! :P
