I think you were very brave and did the right thing. It's a shame that the lecturer had to resign, but ultimately, it wasn't your fault that they weren't doing their job properly. Well done!
very interesting. unis trying to blow bull**** at you till you get tired and give up rings true, as does covering for crap staff (even though he was probably well known as a dud among his colleagues)
obviously better to avoid it in the first place, so what's the moral for people picking a course?
I'd suggest paying attention to the student satisfaction scores and going to large departments / unis to reduce the possibility of of getting the same lecturer on too many modules. Even if you get a dud, they won't break too many modules.
