    Can money buy you happiness?
I see countless number of people picking professions that they have no real passion or desire for simply because of the money. What I'm asking is would you rather be on your deathbed having fulfilled and full and happy life or a person insanely rich but miserable.

yes, they just don;t know how to use it. I have a flying license diving license the two don't interlink being rich and miserable, also money can't necessarily buy you happiness but I'd rather be crying in my ferrari

This thread has been done to death. I must ask: why do you feel anything from seeing others picking professions that the have no real passion for? And who are you to determine that lack of passion?

Pursue self acceptance and independence of others, that isn't buying happiness, but its a good investment.

Very temporarily. Our wants are insatiable, so they can never be fully fulfilled - we will always want more. Think about it. A person with a small house will say, "If only my house was a bit bigger" Then if they get that, "Just a car that can go to 200 mph" and so on. We will always want more, no way around it. Also, if it did make you happy, the richer someone is, the happier they should be, which we know isn't the case.

I believe you are truly happy when you don't want more and more and are content with what you have.

Money in a way makes me happy.. so yh unless I totally loathe my profession, money is always a good motivator.

This is silly - what if you were crying because your mum died, would you really give a damn? I wouldn't.

It depends really. If I was a multi-millionaire who never had to work then yes, that level of money would buy happiness. However, just having a well-paid job but still spending most of my life in work anyway wouldn't make me happy.

Spot on. Once we learn to appreciate what we do have, we become truly happy.

Never had much money but I would hate working all the time in a job I didn't enjoy just for money I had no time to spend. Although, I think I'd prefer to be sad in a mansion than a caravan or something!

Money will allow me to isolate myself from the world indefinitely and sustain my solace without any concerns.

    Money can buy me happiness.

Short term happiness, yes. Long term? Not necessarily, but it would probably help...

it might not make you happy but it goes a long way to alleviating misery.

In my opinion, money can obviously buy happiness, who wouldn't want a bit more? Not everyone with money turns into a cold, unlovable human being y'know.

I think it’s just one of those questions that apply to different people, in other words some people who are filthy rich might be unhappy- most likely because they do hate their profession or the money just doesn’t satisfy them and would say life is better without money (such a big stereotype but still…) yet other people who are struggling could tell you that in this money hungry world it would make life easier and improve the life they live. I personally have those days where I couldn’t give a flying monkey about money but then you see something nice in the shop or you’re struggling with bills or something and then you start to realised how much you need your money; but then again who am I to say anything I’m still just a teenager

Money certainly contributes to happiness. This is not intended to be shallow - I am from a very poor family and have had very little growing up. I didn't have a particularly happy childhood as a result. Love is not enough to feed a family on or to run a car. I am hoping to enter a profession where the yearly earnings are greedy to say the least in the hope that I will never again have to go without. People who say that money isn't everything are naiive - it is certainly crucial to live a contented life.

I would rather live a modest life with a job I love than a lavish life with a job I hate. It's all about finding the balance between the two. Money gives you more chances to be happy in my opinion, but many people don't use their money properly so still end up unhappy. For example if I won the lottery I would volunteer full time at the Cystic Fibrosis Trust whilst using my spare time to get fit and train for a marathon, plus lots of nights out with my friends- that would make me happy. I couldn't give up my job and do NOTHING, that wouldn't make me happy.
