Graduating next year - Another UCAS application!
So I'm coming to the end of my undergraduate degree, just one year to go. Everything's looking good so far.
Plans for after that? Well I'm looking at doing another degree. It'd be an undergraduate one (completely unrelated to my current degree) and so it means come October 15th 2012, I'll be expected to have completed and sent another UCAS application.
I'm a bit stuck though. It's been four years since I left what I consider my 'main' high school, having attended there for 7 years, and I've done two exchanges since then, one just after the end of high school and one for my 3rd year of university (having come home only a few days ago). So the problem is - whom should I ask for a reference? I feel uneasy asking lecturers here, as they only see me once a week (and haven't seen me at all for the past year with having been away) yet, wouldn't it be a bit strange for a UCAS application to come from a school I left four years ago?
Already getting nightmares and flashbacks of my first UCAS application, all that time ago!
Thanks for your time -
Re: Graduating next year - Another UCAS application!Wouldn't he pay via another set of loans from Student Finance England? Would have a heck of a loan to pay back, but all the same rules would still apply in paying back, so as long as he or anyone else is ok with the debt then yeah, go for it!(Original post by Joinedup)
Your current tutors...
Bit of an odd thing to do tho, how are you going to pay the fees? -
Re: Graduating next year - Another UCAS application!Well, I'm in Scotland and applying to Scottish universities. So fees are a much more significant matter for you than they are for me. Regardless, my financial affairs are none of your business!(Original post by JessicaUk)

Re: Graduating next year - Another UCAS application! What?? For a start I was not talking to you! I was replying to someone else who made a comment about fees. I have no interest in you whatsoever, so you can do what the heck you like...I am not interested.(Original post by rmacd)

Plus, friendly people in Scotland...you set a great example...not. -
Re: Graduating next year - Another UCAS application!sfe wouldn't lend you money to pay tuition on a second undergraduate degree... Anyway my troll detector just exploded due to the fake sounding circumstances being described here so i'm gonna leave it.(Original post by JessicaUk)

Re: Graduating next year - Another UCAS application!Yet you reply on this thread? I'm at a loss as to why you'd have even bothered writing anything: perhaps trying to nudge your post count up a little?(Original post by JessicaUk)

Not only will you not be able to get funding ... the tuition fees for a second undergraduate degree will be at the full level (that international students pay).Incorrect. As I've already clarified above, I'm a Scottish student and Scottish university. Therefore my fees are much less substantial than yours would be. A maximum of £1,820 in fact, not accounting for bursaries. It would seem TSR is inhabited by click-happy folk who refuse to read a thread's question: I was not asking for an analysis of my financial affairs, merely one's opinion on UCAS and the reference portion. Nothing to do with fees, nothing to do with my subject(s).(Original post by Joinedup)

I assumed there must be other graduates on this forum who would actually know a thing or two about UCAS applications post-graduation, specifically to do with the reference. Does it depend on the institution then, as well? Do you think some universities would prefer a reference come from someone who's known you longer (high school teacher) or someone who's known you more recently (lecturer, as Joinedup suggested), even if contact time has been limited? -

Why are you doing another undergraduate degree? -
Re: Graduating next year - Another UCAS application!Sweet, I know exactly who to ask, then(Original post by zaliack)
Just get your tutor to do it. I got my tutor to give me a reference after he saw me once, he just blagged it all.

Re: Graduating next year - Another UCAS application!Didn't think there were any GEM courses in Scotland. Just the standard 5 year courses.(Original post by rmacd)
