All you need to know about Apple and TSR is...
Gef is Apple's biggest fan
Mad is Apple's most hated fan
This doesn't even make any sense.

Re: Wwdc 2012
Anyways, my predictions for the event:
-The entire Mac product line will get revamped in some form, even if it's only a move to Ivybridge CPUs
-A new MacBook line slotting somewhere between the Air and Pro lines will launch
-Mountain Lion will get previewed fully and be given a release date, maybe even launch on the day.
-A new iOS device of some description will launch alongside the confirmed iOS 6. I would hazard a guess at the new iPhone given the sheer volume of recent leaks, or either of the iPad predictions made this spring for a mid-year launch- a 7" iPad or a faster "iPad S"
There were a few other things I was thinking about but can't remember them off the top of my head, I'll edit them in later. -
Re: Wwdc 2012
Apple TV is the other hot one. Although nobody seems to know the first thing about it, it's just all speculation based on the Jobsian bible (sorry, autobiography). iOS 6 and Mountain Lion are dead certs, I wouldn't expect more than one major product launch though, if it's not the Apple TV chances are it'll be a new Mac of some kind.

Re: Wwdc 2012They sell quite well in terms of streaming boxes apparently. Dez is referring to the fabled fully fledged TV that Apple have supposedly been working on.(Original post by Mad Vlad)
Apple TV is still going?! -
Re: Wwdc 2012Amazingly, yes. I can't imagine it sells very well outside the US though. But there's tons of rumours, as Gofre says, of an integrated Apple TV, based off the fact that Jobs wrote in his biography about revolutionising the TV industry, amongst other things. If it does get announced next week, I imagine chances of it going on sale outside North America in the next 12 months are extraordinarily slim.(Original post by Mad Vlad)
Apple TV is still going?! -
Re: Wwdc 2012My money's on that not doing so well. I think they're trying to penetrate a market that's over-saturated and short of a little bit of integration with things like iCloud, and iTunes, it's nothing the other, more established TV manufacturers aren't already doing.(Original post by Gofre)

Re: Wwdc 2012I almost snapped up an Apple TV last summer until I found out you can only access media actually in your iTunes library and most of my video content sits in a different format on an external hard drive. App and Video mirroring from iOS devices was a big step in the right direction though. Allow us to access any of the media on our macs and open the platform up to third party developers and I can see it becoming a very popular product.(Original post by Dez)

With regards to a "proper" Apple TV, I expect they'd launch it across their major opening territories (UK, Spain, Germany etc) alongside the US, albeit in a far more limited scope.
One more thing (5 internet points for anyone who thinks of Jobs every time they hear that
) we might see some sort of hint or sneak peak at whatever Ive is currently working on, which he recently described as the best and most important thing he's done at Apple. This could obviously just be a trademark Apple superlative, but Ive has always been a bit more understated in my opinion, so it could be something very special. Obviously if they're still working on it, it won't launch this year, but an early version of the original iPhone was also previewed like they have since done with new versions of OS X, so fingers crossed even if it is a ridiculous long shot.

Re: Wwdc 2012Yeah could be, although I would imagine they would go in a significantly different direction to separate themselves from the rest of the market. Heavy Siri integration could be a real killer, for example.(Original post by Mad Vlad)

Re: Wwdc 2012Agree about Mac revamp, trying to keep myself from letting my mind wander further than Ivybridge though - I know tons of people are expecting retina/slimmer design/SSDs as standard etc.(Original post by Gofre)

New Mac line... maybe. I saw the leak a while ago with the specs for a Macbook of some kind - wouldn't be a surprise to me if they added a low cost option to their range, especially if retina does happen.
Agree about Mountain Lion, swaying to the thinking that they'll release it there and then.
Don't think I agree about a new iOS device - I know there have been loads of leaks about the new iPhone, but for some reason it seems to early - I reckon somewhere later this year. I'm usually wrong about these kind of things though
A smaller iPad wouldn't be too much of a surprise I suppose... haven't heard any rumours about that however.
Hoping that they'll give the Macbooks a thorough redesign/spec change though - I *really* need a new machine, and if they don't release anything much different I'll be annoyed I've wasted so long in waiting!
I'd put a bit of money on them releasing the OS for Apple TV, not much else. -
Re: Wwdc 2012Some purported product sheets showed a new MacBook design that had the expected/confirmed Retina displays and no optical drive alongside the updated Pros. I would say they're a new line since if they do come to fruition they are significantly different enough from the Pros to warrant it.(Original post by Wookie42)

Probably, what's making me think twice is that there was a very small event showcasing a preview for Lion, something we haven't had for ML yet, it just got bunged up on the website. However it would coincide nicely with a major overhaul to the lineup of all Macs.Agree about Mountain Lion, swaying to the thinking that they'll release it there and then.
An iPhone release actually fits quite nicely when you look at the release history:Don't think I agree about a new iOS device - I know there have been loads of leaks about the new iPhone, but for some reason it seems to early - I reckon somewhere later this year. iPhone- June 07
iPhone 3G- July 08
iPhone 3GS- June 09
iPhone 4- June '10
iPhone 4S- Oct '11
The 4S is actually the outlier. If it was released this late intentionally, then yeah, a WWDC release is unlikely. If it was simply subject to delays, then Apple may get back onto a summer release cycle. It also ties in nicely to the contracts finishing for the early adopters of the iPhone 4 before they can get tempted away by Android. That's another reason I expect a WWDC unveiling, compared to the big guns put out by the likes of HTC and Samsung, the 4S looks utterly pedestrian, a position Apple is not accustomed to occupying. The iPad stuff is sheer speculation though.
I wouldn't expect any significant overhaul to the design, it's pretty much the iconic laptop now and sits superbly in terms of form and function. The most drastic change I'd like to see is a rearrangement of the (and a few extra) ports. I would say that a new line of MacBooks is the best hope of seeing anything with a significantly new design, although I'm hoping they do something awesome with the Mini because that's what I'm hoping to move to!Hoping that they'll give the Macbooks a thorough redesign/spec change though - I *really* need a new machine, and if they don't release anything much different I'll be annoyed I've wasted so long in waiting!

I think an 'iPhone 5' would be announced in October, rather than WWDC, but we'll know for certain in the next week

I'm almost certain the MacBooks will be upgraded. Ivy Bridge is out, something new will be unveiled. Wether it's an updated MacBook Pro/Air, or a new kind altogether, or all three, I think something new will be announced.
Personally, I think everything will be updated (iMacs, Mac Pros, All MacBooks) and I'm 50/50 on a new MacBook altogether. -
Re: Wwdc 2012I haven't heard any such rumours, and that's extremely unlikely either way.(Original post by LadyJoka)
I agree with a mac revamp and apparently there have been a few rumours suggesting that apple will be discontinuing the 17" MacBook pro
-
I've heard them. As much as I don't want the 17" to be discontinued, it only accounted for (approx) 1.7% of Apple's computer sales last year...(Original post by Gofre)
I haven't heard any such rumours, and that's extremely unlikely either way. -
Re: Wwdc 2012He really isn't. There's some utterly nauseating Macolytes on here. Gofre's vice is high end audio.(Original post by mangoh)
haha lol
You so are TSR's biggest Apple fan
You know more about Apple than Tim Cook does -
Re: Wwdc 2012You really should go and read some of Profesh's one-liners if you think my vocabulary is that prodigious.(Original post by mangoh)
true about high end audio
p.s. your grammar is amazing like every sentence you post I have to at least Google 2 words for definitions
