Suggest books for an economics beginner!
Hello everyone!
I am going to start my junior year in high school soon and I'm taking an economics class (IB). I talked to the teacher and she said I'll have to do some summer reading since I have absolutely no background in the subject. So, could you guys suggest some good books (in simple words) that'll get me started? -
Re: Suggest books for an economics beginner! The Undercover Economist is an interesting read. And it's straight forward and easy to follow as well.(Original post by new-here)

Re: Suggest books for an economics beginner!
Principles of Economics by Greg Mankiw is the best introductory book.
Also for general understanding of macroeconomics, Paul Krugman's books are good and quite easy to follow - the Accidental Theorist, the Return of Depression Economics and End this Depression Now! -
Re: Suggest books for an economics beginner! There is A level revision guide called economics by (or through) diagrams. This is amazing, and it covers a ot of the IB topics (you can skip the whole labor market stuff though I think, but I mean once you start the IB, it's very easy to get hold of syllabus', for all subjects really).(Original post by Kim-x)
There are AS and A2 revision guides by Anforme (on Amazon) which explain things simply. I assume that the content will be similar to that on your course.

Re: Suggest books for an economics beginner!
Economics for dummies! i read it before my 1st year of Economics at uni because i didn't take economics as an ALevel and it really helped me get the basics. There's also a student handbook (orange) by John Sloman that also has a question and answer booklet (purple book), i think there the 6th edition (edition 10 is out now) so its quite old but i found them quite helpful for the basics and theory side, as long as you make sure you read up to date text books as well encase an theories have changed, but i doubt they would have as i only just finshed my 1st year
Good luck
