Poll: Do you know ALL the words to the national anthem?
This is inspired by my Grandmother, who took great delight in telling me how she thinks it is disgraceful that people call themselves British, yet can't sing the anthem properly.
I of course, sat there, made a few vague nods, thinking to myself, 'Wait, what comes after God save the Queen?'
I guess I am one of these 'disgraceful' people. (!)
This is not excluding the TSR peeps from other countries, question still applies, but to your anthem.

Re: Poll: Do you know ALL the words to the national anthem?
Off the top of my head (I haven't copy-pasted any of it)
God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen.
Send her victorious,
happy and glorious,
long to reign over us,
God save the Queen.
O'Lord our God arise,
scatter her enemies,
and make them fall.
Confound their politics,
frustrate their knavish tricks,
on thee our hopes we fix,
God save us all.
(I know there's another verse, but I haven't memorised it yet

Send her victorious
Happy and glorious
Long to reign over us

Scatter her enemies
And make them fall
Confound their politics
Frustrate their knavish tricks
On Thee our hopes we fix
God save us all
3. Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour
Long may she reign
May she defend our laws
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen
4. Not in this land alone
But be God's mercies known
From shore to shore
Lord make the nations see
That men should brothers be
And form one family
The wide world over
5. From every latent foe
From the assassins blow
God save the Queen
O'er her thine arm extend
For Britain's sake defend
Our mother, prince, and friend
God save the
6. Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring
May he sedition hush
And like a torrent rush
Rebellious Scots to crush
God save the King
EDIT: I am loving the "rebellious scots to crush"-Alex Salmond would love that! -

Thankfully for most people, we only ever hear the first verse, which is probably why most people only know the first verse. It's not necessarily a bad thing.Last edited by Champagne Supernova; 10-06-2012 at 11:14. -
Re: Poll: Do you know ALL the words to the national anthem? This!(Original post by Giant)
I didn't previously, but it has sort of been drilled into me over the pretty much non-stop playing over the 4 day Jubilee Weekend
