Is it worth upgrading an iPad 2 to the 'new iPad' ?
Hi! I have an iPad 2. I don't necessarily use it for Uni work because the applications... Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator aren't available for it, and they probably wouldn't even work that well on a touch screen device.
Mainly, i use it to get away from my normal laptop and Uni work, and use it if i have to take it anywhere as it's obviously a lot lighter.
It was bought for me as a gift, but I looked at the new ipad in apple the other day and it seems so much better. I like reading tech/news on the web and the better screen made it feel more comfortable for reading.
I'm a keen photographer too and the higher res screen would make my photos look even sharper, and the camera seemed to be much better.
The screen and camera would be better, but do you think it's worth the upgrade? I'm interested in the 16gb wifi/cellular one which with student discount, is around £480 apparently... I'd also sell my ipad 2.
What do you think? -

I think it would be a bit pointless, too.
The iPad 3's screen is awesome, but in my opinion not really worth spending ~£500 (or 200-300 being after selling your iPad 2) if you have a brand new iPad 2.
Also, if you are a keen photographer you would be much better of spending half that amount on an entry-level DSLR. -

You said you go to uni, unless you're rolling in money, I'd advise you not to. Save the money for something useful, be it money to fall back on if you overspend or having fun with your mates. It's not worth switching from the iPad2 to 3 unless you have nothing better to do with your time than spend money. It's a lot of money, and it would be a waste IMO.

Definitely not. The biggest upgrade is the screen. It's good for looking at photos, yes, but it really isn't worth the entire upgrade. Whilst the camera may be slightly better, the device is still uncomfortable for taking photos, and the resolution of the photos still looks terrible, even compared to older phones.
