You'd hope so
But then whats the point in following rules that many non followers find silly such as not eating certain foods. And what would eb the point in a god making such rules, if they're willing to accept people that don't follow them.

Re: Finding out your faith is wrong.
If I went to heaven when I died and saw Jesus and God, I guess that would be enough evidence to prove Christianity is correct. It would be solid proof I suppose and would allow me to say for sure they exist. As an agnostic, I cannot say for certain that I believe in God and know that he exists.

Surprised no one has posted a link to Dawkins infamous response to this very question.
(link in case embedding it above doesn't work)

Re: Finding out your faith is wrong.that's the thing, we don't know for sure that we're going to heaven it's all in God's hands.. we won't go to heaven just for believing, we all commit sins.(Original post by Alexok)
I think every religious person has a doubt before they die, because why would you fear death at all if you knew for sure you were going to heaven? I don't get it -
Re: Finding out your faith is wrong. If there is no god, then you wouldn't know after your death(Original post by The_Lonely_Goatherd)
If it turned out there was no God, then I'd be a bit disappointed but at the end of the day, I'll hopefully have lived a life that I'm happy with, so that would be the main thing. I don't think I'd consider myself to have wasted my life or whatever
If it turned out that Catholicism wasn't true and that some other religion was true, I'd be quite surprised and again, disappointed. I'm sure I'd get over it though. As I say, I'll have hopefully lived a life that I'm happy with

Re: Finding out your faith is wrong.
I don't think I would convert to any religion if I found out it was true. the idea of any being which can't stand not being worshipped isn't wholly appealing. besides I don't only object to religion on logical grounds, but also on moral grounds. I don't think there's any way to justify the existance of evil if the abrahamic god is real. perhaps a transcendant, non-anthropomorphic being, force or spiritual realm I would be able to accept.... maybe.

Re: Finding out your faith is wrong.
Depends entirely on the nature of the afterlife. Am I a ghost? A zombie? Am I reincarnated as an animal? Is there a horrid God? Is there a nice God? Is there a pantheon of Gods? Am I going to hell, or limbo, or finding out I'm in an eternal blissful afterlife with all of my loved ones? An infinite number of potential future afterlives would all have me "wrong", as I expect nothing :/
If my continued existence was pleasant, with my loved ones, and a just system, everything explained etc - I'd be nothing but pleased I guess. With a few questions I suppose. In a different scenario, I might just go on trying to survive in the new life. If my new life were worse than oblivion, unbearable, awful not just for myself but to think of all those following - I guess I would be wracked with misery.Last edited by BeanofJelly; 22-06-2012 at 22:39.
