Converting 480p. Bluray videos for ipad?
I'm going on holiday tomorrow and wanted to put on the season of Dexter on my ipad. I'm not tech savvy at all but the format of my videos are .mkv, at least thats what it says on the title.

I got a software from the web for free conversion, called "Free Video to iPad Converter" but its SO slow. It takes a minute per % of conversion. I can't wait 100 minutes for each episode to convert, that would be so long!?

Does anyone know any way to speed up the process? Any other software on the net? Or is my file way too big, and should I redownload the season in another format (if so which one?)

    Thanks for any tips

480p isn't a format, it's the resolution. Definitely not bluray resolution either. What's the extension that gets added onto the end of the file name, eg dexterepisodeone.xxx, in Windows Explorer?

Time to convert is generally dependant on your pc/laptops power, not the software doing it. If your iPad is jailbroken you can get vlc for iOS for free from cydia which will play pretty much anything, or Gplayer is in the appstore for £1.99 and will do the same thing.

Try Handbrake, it can take mkv files and output to iOS compatible formats and has all manner of quality settings. I've used it in the past to rip entire series of DVDs in the space of a few hours.

So I need not convert this mkv format to anything else if I get VLC on the ipad?

If thats the case do I just sync my season to itunes as normal, and then on ipad it opens automatically with VLC?

    Thanks

In the app section of your iPad when connected to your pc there is an option to add files to specific apps.

Try Buzz Media Player HD for the iPad too, plays nearly all formats.
