    AQA A2 Biology
    Hi
Could someone please clear something up about muscles for me
In one of my textbooks it says muscles are made up of millions of tiny muscle fibres called myofibrils. This suggests to me that muscle fibre and myofibril are the same thing.
However in another textbook it says each muscle fibre is made up of myofibrils.

    This seems contradictory to me
    Anyone know?

Also is a muscle cell the same as a muscle fibre

    Thanks in advance

Is the first textbook you're quoting from the AQA Biology A2 Nelson Thornes (Glenn Toole, Susan Toole)? If so, look at the diagram at the bottom of that page (p. 184). It shows that a whole muscle is made up of bundles of muscle fibers, which are made up of single muscle fibres, which are made up of many myofibrils.

This suggests that each muscle fibre is made up of many myofibrils. Therefore, the first bit of text which you have quoted is wrong, and the second bit is correct
