    Squat Form
    Hi guys,

Restarted on my squats a few weeks back as my form wasn't good at all. I've watched what feels like a million YouTube tutorial videos and have come up with the following. What do you guys think? Any huge errors i'm making that i'm not spotting? I know my lower back rounds at the bottom, but i'm working on that as best I can! Bar weighs just 10kg FYI.

P.s. I tucked in my shirt for this video so I could see my back clearly. I'm not an ultra-nerd when in the gym :P

Knees out more and yeah lower back rounding. Pushing your knees out should help with lower back rounding, also do lots of hamstring and hip flexibility work. I have the same problem. Don't listen to the guy that says you're going too far forward. He's obviously never heard of the low bar squat.

But it's not bad. You seem to have got the bar position down perfect.

Doesn't look bad, personally i wear a belt to keep my lower back in check. Also you look slightly above parallel, not that it matters a great deal. Personally this is how i set up, go under the back and tuck the bar onto the top of my traps, un rack, step back and push my chest out and dig that bar into my traps. I then drop and just look ahead. I found the more i tried to focus on where i was going, the worse my form got. Also maybe sit back when you squat so you don't learn forward and fall over!

Also don't olympic bars weigh 20kg, not 10?

I go to a ****ty gym that has just a barbell - it's not an oly bar I'm moving in September, can't wait to go to a good gym with a power rack etc!

Cheers for the tips guys, will try and take them on board for the next time I go to the gym!

The angle in those wrists doesn't look happy, how come you don't wrap your thumbs around the bar?
nice slow and controlled though, and great thoracic extension, really nice set up and start to the squat
depth and mobility will come with time if you're doing the right mobility work (ankles, hamstrings, hips)

out of interest, whats your hamstring flexiblity like? can you touch your toes with locked knees?

You look like you're thinking too much. Everything seems exaggerated.

Just grab the bar in a comfortable way (how you were holding it looked wrong) and sit down like you're going for a ****. Then stand back up again. People overcomplicate this way too much- normally people who don't squat all that much.
