    student finance queries
hi, few questions regarding student finance. firstly, due to one thing and another, largely my own fault, i've missed the deadline for appyling. am i right in thinking that this will effect when the initial payment is made to me and (hopefully) not much else?

secondly, i was a university student in the academic year of 2010-11, dropping out after the one year. will this have any implication on my application for student finance this time around, and what happens with my student fee's from the previous course?

also, i take it i will have to inform student finance that i have already had funding previously (just to be clear i received only a grant, rather than a loan as i lived at home as i will be doing again this time around)?

any advice and or informtation will be much appreciated.

Yup, the payment may not go in on time.

That means you've used up one year of funding, the fees you paid for the previous course paid for that year of that course. You get funded for the length of your current course + 1 year - previous study, so you'll be fine.

also, i take it i will have to inform student finance that i have already had funding previously (just to be clear i received only a grant, rather than a loan as i lived at home as i will be doing again this time around)?
Yes, that'll be on the form somewhere...

any advice and or informtation will be much appreciated.
    You're welcome.
However, next time if you use the search function, you'll be able to find these answers in other threads, as they tend to be quite common problems so there are plenty of people asking about them.

You've covered all the points raised, but can I just correct a tiny part of what you said?

Previous HE study is counted, regardless how it was financed. Even if the OP paid out of pocket for all of it and didn't get any funding whatsoever, it would still count as a year used up.

This is actually what I was trying to say, but my grammar is confused, I meant it like this:
You get funded for the length of your current course + 1 year - previous study, so you'll be fine.

But thanks very much for clarifying anyway, I should have put it like that first time round and have now edited it in, and will do in future.

It's just such a tiny thing, but it makes a big difference to the amount of funding some people get

I know, I shouldn't be giving advice when trying to follow three sporting events at the same time, my grammar goes out of the window.
At least it's all good now.
