Goes to William, but more importantly, I win the bet with my mum and earn a fiver.

Harry Potter, not Henry Potter. Yes it's a real name.
I don't generally assume Dick Turpin was actually named Dick or that Bertie Wooster's given name was Bertie.

I think it goes to William, as the son of the eldest. And yes, the lovely Kate would be Queen Consort.
Harry is short for Harold! Although some creative parents call their boys Harry as a name in its own right. Kinda like Jack, which was traditionally a pet name for John.
Actually that's a fair point. Jack has become vaguely normalised. Can't say I'd inflict it on a child as a given name in its own right though.

When he abdicated he signed away any right his children might otherwise have had to the throne. Once he's gone, he's completely gone.

he signed away his childrens right to inherit when he abdicated
    Ah that explains it. Cheers!

Is it a name in its own right? The only Harry I've ever met was also a Henry. I know some dodgy characters name their children by nicknames, but I don't think it's particularly proper.
Harry is the 3rd most popular boys name in the country. Henry doesn't even make the top 20.

    It's also short for Harold.

If Charles becomes Monarch, he can choose hos name to rule, there is talk he may choose George an become King George 7th. There are questions regarding Camilla.

If Prince Charles dies before the Queen then Prince William becomes King and Kate would be Queen Consort.

That's true. In the case of Harry Potter, however, I'd say it's fair to assume that Harry is his given name - no one ever calls him Henry or Harold, even (for example) at his hearing at the Ministry of Magic, where they give his full name as 'Harry James Potter'.

My given name is Jack, and I don't see it as an infliction

Why should Charles become king if he's married a divorcee like Edward IV?

For one thing, social values have changed. (And it's Edward VIII)
