Best thing for a sore throat (after being sick)?
Hey, I was sick this morning (I was hungover, my own fault I know
) and ever since my throats been really hurting. It even hurts to swallow water
I normally don't get this after being sick but I think because there was no food to throw up it hurt more (because it was basically probably a mixture of just water and stomach acid).
Anybody know some good ways to try and relieve it? It got a bit better during the afternoon but it really really hurts again

Honey.
When you get a hangover from drinking too much alcohol, combat its effects by applying honey remedy. Honey is gentle on the stomach and contains a mix of natural sugars such fructose which is known to speed up the oxidation of alcohol by the liver, acting as a 'sobering' agent. Follow this recipe: 15ml of liquid honey with 80ml of orange juice and 70ml of natural yogurt. Blend them together until smooth.

This happened to me the other week, maybe try either green tea or honey and lemon with hot water, they sooth my throat.(Original post by Pen Island)

But to be honest I think it's the type of thing that goes by the next day, it did with me.

Re: Best thing for a sore throat (after being sick)? You use medicinal drugs, but advise against drinking anything hot? Makes sense.(Original post by Josh93)
Lemsip might help - it's warm and soothing (I think you can add honey to it) and it contains paracetamol to help bring any inflammation down.
I would say avoid drinking anything really hot though. -
Re: Best thing for a sore throat (after being sick)? You can buy lemsip over the counter - the only medicinal ingredient in there is paracetamol...I wouldn't drink anything too hot in case it irritates the skin on the inside of her throat further.(Original post by Formerly Helpful_C)

Which part doesn't make sense? -
Re: Best thing for a sore throat (after being sick)? Both are harmful in some way. The best solution is the one I posted, it's completely natural and doesn't involve taking drugs.(Original post by Josh93)

Re: Best thing for a sore throat (after being sick)?By all means show me the evidence that a single 1000mg dose of paracetamol taken on an infrequent basis is in any way harmful to either the long or short term health of an otherwise perfectly healthy adult and I will be happy to admit my mistake??(Original post by Formerly Helpful_C)

Seems harmful to me. -

Re: Best thing for a sore throat (after being sick)?Risks are risks, no matter how small. Why take a risk when a natural alternative exists (and is better)?(Original post by UKiwi)

Honestly, risk of addiction? How many paracetamol junkies have you heard of?!?!
Yes you can overuse it but as far as I'm aware it is in no way psychoactive and is not chemically addictive in the sense that opiates for example are. -
Re: Best thing for a sore throat (after being sick)? The objective wasn't to 'compare the risk', was it? Why are you moving the goalposts?(Original post by Josh93)

Re: Best thing for a sore throat (after being sick)? The only possible way to judge risk is by comparison as all activities carry a certain degree of risk - the most relevant thing to compare the risk of allergic reaction to paracetamol to in this case seems to me to be to the alternative which you are advocating.(Original post by Formerly Helpful_C)

The goal posts seem pretty stationary to me. -
Re: Best thing for a sore throat (after being sick)? They would do.(Original post by Josh93)

I don't see anything about a comparison or a comparison with honey. You've changed the playing field to suit yourself. I proved that there are real risks and you ignored them.
