Re: OCR-F248 Applied Business 14th June 2012- Fontane LtdOk yh im just doing some last minute cramming really the theory of the topics isn't that difficult its just when you use them to answer questions it's difficult especially like the 12/20 mark essay's... yh i want decision trees to come it's highly likely to because Rachel wants to use them to present the option or something like that.... yh i really hope porters generic strategies doesn't come up don't mind Ansoff Matrix though .... but past papers haven't been that bad ??(Original post by Nwatters787)
Yea im pretty much finished up but i dnt know the stuff very well (the theory end of things) I hope decision trees comes up, I feel that there will be a big marketing question along with NPV....What do ya think??

Re: OCR-F248 Applied Business 14th June 2012- Fontane LtdI've have/am trying to learn definitions for each theory because if you have a clear definition of what each topic is you can write a lot ?? and things like the "bottom line"/"competitive advantage" I am trying to learn definitions for do you get the payback period,ARR,NPV etc ???(Original post by Louise184)

What the hell is "bottom line"/"competitive advantage" hahah! we haven't done any of that in my business class! I have learnt definitions for payback period, net present value, average rate of return, crisis management, contingency planing, decision trees, ansoff matrix, Grannt Charts, Critical Path, Break even, corporate objective, vision, mission, aim, stakeholder society etc
Ive learnt like advantages and limitations of break even Investment appraisal etc

I think we may have to complete a decision tree and then write about the limitations etc
Also what's a porter ?
It is really hard this year as without applying to the case study you get low marks! I need 58 marks to getting B overall!

Yeah I wouldn't mind a 20 marker on that! So glad we get the case study on the exam!! And every sentence I'm just going to apply!(Original post by Nwatters787)

I'm so nervous for it to wish it was on the morning so could get it over and done with!
I think there will be a question to work out labour turnover, absenteeism rate, labour productivity and then like a 12 mark question on like saying to what extent should Rachel me concern with the figures?
Some 2 mark questions on what are payback period etc?
Maybe a question on whether Rachel should consider doing a contingency plan?
Limitations of average rate of return

I'd like all them labour questions to come up but i dunno!!
Do u think NPV will come up in a big way?? or is it too noticable in the case study? -
Yeah but I think it will go quick as there's quite a lot to write! And yeah I hope there is something on labour! What's the formula for wastage levels again? And I think it might come up but I don't know as it not like a big link to the case study(Original post by Nwatters787)

Re: OCR-F248 Applied Business 14th June 2012- Fontane LtdDepends how you look at it;(Original post by Hk :))
Is 2b the best option??
Option 1 is expensive, and very risky. However despite having the lowest ARR figure at 52%, 52% of £440,000 (the cost) is over £220,000 which means it will provide much larger profits than the other two.
Risk will be a key topic in my long answers, because I wouldn't recommend a fairly new business, like Fontane go with a risky venture (Option 1). Personally I would go with Option 2a, even with Rachel making the figures biased

Re: OCR-F248 Applied Business 14th June 2012- Fontane LtdOption 2a only has 2 years payback, so that wouldn't help to make a decision between the two. Agreed the figures are good for 2b, however Fontane don't have commercial experience, so you could say its higher risk.(Original post by Hk :))
Hmm option 2b is good even though they spending £120,000 uses all it reserves but payback period is only 1 and half years and arr is good 67% ??
