It's not that they can't, it's just not something I'd consider something stylish or as an example of being fashionable despite her being held up as a style icon by the media.

Kate is part of the monarchy now, so she is just better than us in every way. She is more elegent, graceful, intelligent, and awsomer than us commonfolk (-which she supposedly came from; although I wouldnt call someone with that much of a rosey past "common" by any stretch of the imagination).

Cheryl Cole has a "job" which should involve talent, and even though she is not especially talented she has more success than most people who are, and now judges those who are better singers than her! There's also a lot of fakery about her, from her hair extensions to her veneers. She basically got where she is by being attractive and made-up; she's part of this horrible "overnight celebrity" culture where people seem to feel entitled to fame and fortune just because they want it so badly. Many people dislike X Factor, ergo they dislike her. Her music is also rather annoying, if you can call it "hers" given that she doesn't write it herself. All that being said, I don't hate her, I just find her and what she represents rather annoying.

Kate Middleton may not be especially talented or have "worked" to get to her position, but she isn't pretending that she has. People think she's a good role model not because she married a prince but because she is kind, elegant, modest and down-to-earth. She is intelligent and articulate. They like how healthy her relationship to William seems to be, and how genuine it is, in stark contrast to the marriage of Charles and Diana. The people who dislike Kate think she is going to lead a lifestyle of easy luxury, but I would argue that her life has now become her job. I wouldn't personally like to belong to the royal family.

I know who I'd rather my daughter looked up to ...

Interesting subject. And Cheryl's had lots of good music with Girls Aloud, and her solo career- fight for this love, call my name, 3 words, and more ... and she actually shares her personality, whereas Kate's only done one interview after her engagement which was a very bland affair.

Culture is a beautiful thing to have a knowledge of, and what Cheryl showed during the Jubilee celebration for example, it was simply a shame.

Kate however, is elegant, modest and that shines through her!
Cheryl on the other hand, is an amateur singer (please) who gets media attention simply due to her sad life - absolutely no content -
Yeah ok she might have some good songs, but who can you compare her to? Her new songs number one on the charts bcz she's worked with Example! (of course)

People are silly, they loathe or love people they've never made, spoken to, or had any contact with.

We know what we do about both of them because of the media, who have decided to depict the certain characters in a way that sheds one in a bright light and the other in a somewhat darker one.

Having said all this in my old village I here my mum knew kate's mum reasonably well. Me and special K huh, we go way back.

What I find truly bewildering is that people think Michelle Obama a role model to the strong independence of feminism, and yet she is famous for being married to somebody famous!
