Would you join this society at University?
Discussion for current and prospective students about social life at university, societies, what stationery and bedroom items to buy and anything else relating to life as a university student.

Would you join this society at University?
What should I be concerned about and what would improve it!?
Thanks so much for your help
MY PROPOSAL: A cooking club welcoming people of all cultures to share their cultural and original recipes with club members and the whole of University of XXXX (via Facebook) The general way in which the club will run is that members of the society will use our Facebook page to share recipe suggestions. The recipe with the highest number of ‘likes’ each week will be prepared the next week. We welcome suggestions on how original recipes can be modified on the web page. Society leader and subs will bring ingredients (hopefully we can get some university grant for this) to the three hour meeting sessions. During the sessions, members would be divided into small groups working together to prepare the chosen recipe and also sometimes create a modified version of recipe based on webpage suggestions. We will take pictures of us cooking the food and the final products and post on web-page. Hopefully this will attract more members and hopefully there will be events where we can make the recipes we’ve tried so that people outside the society can try it. The ultimate aim of this society besides it being a social scene for food and culture lovers, we aim to put these recipes together and make a University of XXXXX The Multi-Cultural Student Cookery Book
we should hopefully sell the book after...but I would really like to hear suggestions on how to get money for the ingredientsLast edited by miss_sexy; 11-06-2012 at 07:48. -

Would I join a cooking club? Not really, but I'm sure there are loads of people who would. -
Re: Would you join this society at University?
Probably you will sign up a lot of members if you give food away at the freshers fair stall... Problems could include finding a large enough kitchen to use... May be easier if the uni's taken over a catering college in the past. Probably there'd be more health and safety hoops to jump through than a chess club.
