Its like buying a three-wheeled car. Wtf is the purpose? Either buy a real car or don't buy a car at all. Same concept, either apply to a real college--Castle--or don't apply at all.

What would be the purpose of everyone applying to just one college?

What's so great about castle that makes it the only one worth applying to?

Out on a massive limb here, but maybe because you want to go to Durham for because it's an excellent university and provides a great education? And when you visited you preferred another college? Wild speculation I know, but it's a possibility.

Because the only other college at Durham is Trevelyan?

Also, surely the single worst place in Durham to appreciate the architectural splendour of Castle is inside it? Ditto the best place not to see that Trevelyan isn't the most attractive is looking out of its windows.

Ok...not a Durhamite, just being nosy. But...i quite like that building - what's wrong with a bit of modern architecture?

It's got lots of daffodils, plenty of grass to sit on and trees to climb. Castle has none of those, it all feels a bit squashed (these are not my views but those of someone who looked round Castle but decided she preferred the feel of Trevs).

3 wheeled cars still work quite well.

The accommodation in the castle hasn't always been that great, in fact, friends have told me it is pretty rubbish at times.

Castle was never even on my radar when I applied. I wanted modern accommodation, self-catered and ensuite [as a treat, as I'd never had it before]. Castle didn't really offer any of those things. Plus, I don't like pomp and ceremony, formals and such like. I find it much easier to avoid that here.

Answer No1. You cannot apply to a college, you can only express a preference on your UCAS application.

Answer No2. To avoid the OP.

Come on dude, first you create lots of random 'question' threads and now this?
You must have something more amusing to do.

As you can see I currently do not

Asides from some of the company I've had to put up with recently, I thoroughly enjoy living in this!

I've never really understood why some people think Trevs is ugly. The design makes it a really fun place to live.
