A2 Design and Technology DT3 Exam 13/06/2012
Hey guys
I'm sitting this exam (the Product Design option) on Wednesday afternoon and I was wondering if anyone else is?
I'm sitting the WJEC exam, in the welsh language.
I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how/what to revise?
How to structure answers?
and general support for the exam.
As things stand I don't feel confident at all with it, I don't remember any of the answers or how to structure my answers.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Rhys -
Re: A2 Design and Technology DT3 Exam 13/06/2012Well we did nothing at all in class, so I don't have much to learn from. I'm currently at panic stations since I can't remember any of the DT1 work either. I haven't prepared very well at all.(Original post by Jrobertson)
Yeah I am
although I'm doing it in English, how are you revising for it because I don't have a book to look from so I am just looking through papers and notes of what I did in class
Have you found anything online to help?
What are you actually revising? I don't know what to revise if I'm honest -
Re: A2 Design and Technology DT3 Exam 13/06/2012Do we have to know stuff from DT1?(Original post by RhysHamer)

I'm going through my notes, in the specification for stuff we need to kno it breaks it down to
Human responsibility - like the 5 R's, sustainability, human values
Marketing and public interaction - innovation, research, trends, market push tech pull
Making - materials and components a bit GCSE kinda stuff
Industrial and commercial practise - stages of production
Process - machining, CAM CAD
But don't get worried it looks more complicated that it actually is! Some people aren't even revising for this because it's like kind of a common sense exam with a bit of your own knowledge of definitions and essay writing.
When I get really bored of writing notes I go on stumble upon and look up some products I can use to talk about having some good examples is key
Hope this helps -
Re: A2 Design and Technology DT3 Exam 13/06/2012An open loop control system is something that you can get feedback from, a closed loop is the opposite (I think).(Original post by Bhayat2)
Describe the difference between an open loop and a closed loop control system.? anyone know the answer?
An example of a control system is a garden sprinkler water system. If there was some sort of sensor (a moisture sensor maybe?) in the soil of the garden, this system would be a closed loop system, as feedback is received from the result.
I think this is what it is anyway. I'll google around now just to make sure.
Edit:
Just found this:

Re: A2 Design and Technology DT3 Exam 13/06/2012
Not good.

I left the exam thinking I did okay, then my friend asked me: "which two questions did you do for Section C?". I froze for a second, then realised that I'd only done one question! 26 marks gone already. I'm pretty fuming about this, but whatever It's only DT afterall, and that was my last exam on the bright side
