A-levels or Foundation?
Hi! I've been stalking the TSR forums for a while and just only created an account. So excuse me if I'm making a fool of myself.
Sooo... I'm planning to go to the UK for college/Sixth Form, but I'm very unsure of what to do. My strongest subject is Art, but I don't know.. If I take A-levels I'd probably avoid all Sciences, and go for Art&Design, Psychology and/or Media Studies (and maybe Math, but I don't like Math but everyone tells me that I have to take Math. Ugh.). But according to the Internet and everywhere else, these subjects are considered to be "soft" subjects (except Math of course) and not many Unis find these subjects really appetizing.
If I take Foundation (for Art&Design), I'm really afraid that I have nothing to fall back onto. I may and probably will enjoy it and all, but there's just this tiny person in me nagging me and telling me that it would be harder to find a job in the future and I should be taking something that will actually land me a job like... I don't know, an accountant.
Will I be wasting my time if I go for A-levels if I plan to go for something artsy in the future for Uni? Or should I just take A-levels so I have more options? Or should I just go for Foundation? Help! -
Re: A-levels or Foundation?
A Levels are a really good basis to go on before foundation courses. I have just finished AS Level's and am too thinking of going on to a foundation course before Uni, I also take Fine Art A level
I'd really advise you to take A Levels that YOU enjoy, and not what other people tell you to, as I think that is the key to doing well in the subjects you choose to undertake, remember you have 2 years of studying these subjects in much greater depth than at GCSE!
So yeah, basically if I were you I would take your chosen ALevels, and then go on to the foundation course, because even A Level art and design gives you a good ground on what the Foundation course would be like
And like you said, you can have these A Levels to fall back on, as a pose to going straight onto the foundation. But at the end of the day its for you to decide, if your still not sure ask for advice from friends, family and teachers etc
Hope I helped -
Re: A-levels or Foundation? You're right, maybe A-levels are a better option if I want a better "base". Thank you for your input!(Original post by Jade10128)
