Did anybody sit the AQA linear foundation maths paper today?
    How did you find it?

I'm re-taking it for my teaching, I failed when I was at school, I'm 23 now.

I thought it was harder than the past papers I've been revising.

Oh I'm so glad I wasn't the only one!
I ended up writing all over the page for that last one and ended up with 2.9? Not sure it was even right, I gave up in the end.

I managed to work out pi - just! (I think)

How did you do with the other questions for the shaded area one and I struggled on the mean weights one! how do you even work that out?!

God knows if I've passed or not I'm not looking forward to calculator on weds.

Omg I totally screwed that one! I just worked out the difference between 64kg and 58kg is 6 divided by 6 is 1 so added 1 to 58....prob totally wrong! The shaded one i just minused 1cm off each height eg. it was 4cm but it had 1 cm ontop and bottom so made it 4 x 2 = 8cm squared?!No bloody idea! How did you owrk out the fill the tyre up with air question as in the second part when they said now work it out for 100 when the graph ended at 40? The calculator is always harder too boooooooooooo!! xx

I found that question quite tricky. Honestly, I don't think the exam went all that well. I'll probably get an E again. I know I've got the calculator exam but that's so hard.

I got 8cm too! Argh I didn't put cm squared though, i was panicking too much.

What about the which height is tallest? And the perimeter thing? The first few pages I could just about to!
I am doing it to be a teacher and I'm very anxious I haven't passed, ive been getting 70% + on past papers and this one threw me.

Oh for the tyre pressure I used graph paper and made it around 6.9
    Anyone know the pass mark?

    Anyone else?
How about if you do well on calculator but not so well on non? Do they take the overall grade or add them up seperately?

I'm a bit confused, do you get seperate grades for the Non-Calculator and Calculator exams or is it an overall grade?

The two grades are added up to get an overall score which relates to the grade, so if you did crap on the non calculator you can make it up on the calculator :P

    THANKS!

So, let's just say I got an E for the 'Non Calculator' and then a C for the 'Calculator'. What grade do you think I could get?

Depends on the E and the C itself. Say you got a really low C and a low E then it's most likely not going to be a C but it's more likely to be a D, maybe a high D. If you had a high C and a mediocre E then a C is defiantly possible

Re: Did anybody sit the AQA linear foundation maths paper today?
I flew through the first few pages then I got closer to the back and was so confused. I'm really bad with shapes during maths, the rectangle one at the end I didn't even answer I also got confused with those athletes average weight. This will be the 3rd time I've re-sat my maths, I'm lower 6th. I'm hoping it'll be 3rd time lucky but now idk. I'm dreading the calculator paper tomorrow a bit. Anyone have any idea of the grade boundaries? Good luck for tomorrow!!

Really easy (sorry to those who didn't) I started at 8:55 and then was finished by 10:05 so I had to spend 35 minutes just sitting there :| I think the calculator ones are a lot better though, does anyone else in a calculator exam use it for anything just because you have one, I sit there and get like half way through a question and I'll be like "right. 2 x 4? Calculator...." hahah

It went much better, which is strange as Calculator exams are usually harder. I doubt I passed though.

    I found it easier too!
How odd. I still don't think I've passed which is a shame as I have a teaching place for next year already

Did anyone get stuck on the last question? What on earth is a frequency polygon?!

Yey I found it so easy to, I finished after 45minutes! A frequency polygon is marking the middle of the top of each bar graph and then joining them with a line between each dot, luckily I randomly read that the night before! Xx
