Applying to university, I need advice!
    Hi,
I have been doing as levels and my exam are going to finish on the 18th June. I feel that I have done very bad in all my AS and A2 exams due to illness and my relatives passing away. I am thinking of continuing on with my subjects next year.

They are Maths (will have completed all a level modules by 14th June may have to do resits), Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I am thinking of apply to Imperial - aerospace engineering and mechanical engineering, UCl - mechanical engineering with business finance, Cambridge - Engineering and Queens - aerospace. I am thinking of applying to these universities in September 2013 after I have finished my a levels. I was wondering what my chances are of getting into these universities if I achieve 4 A*and 1 A.

    Please help

Thing with cambridge is that they look at your AS module breakdown, so its important to do well there.
    Not sure about others

First off, if you have extenuating circumstances as to why you didn't get good grades, you can talk to someone about it and they can help you by formally recording it so the universities know that you were in a bad place when doing exams so the results will be understandable and you'll still be able to apply to the top schools.

Secondly, if you obtained 4 A*s + A, then you will have gotten higher grades than they require out of you. You will still have to go to an interview and talk about why you want to do that subject at university level and show how interested you are in the subject.

Overall, I think you have a good chance

So if I apply independently in September 2013 when I have my a level results will I be likely to get an offer from Imperial, Cambridge or UCL. It just means that I will have gap year and will able to concentrate on getting into the top universities because if I apply in September 2012 I might not even get an offer.
