What happens if you don't turn up to your exam?
Hi, please settle this debate for me! (its not something I actually plan on doing, a friend wants to!)
My friend has an overall D from history last year at AS, and has just retaken one of the AS exams in the hopes of increasing this grade. They have their final A2 exam tomorrow that adds up with coursework that they did well in this year. If they don't turn up to this exam, do they just get the D or is the coursework factored in some how? Or is their entire A levels written off? -

Ahh, okay. In this case, do you think he'd be better off not turning up after all? (he only needs a D for uni!) He thinks by doing this exam, he's gonna drag his grade down because he's been absent so much this year.
He may as well go. Its impossible to get worse than 0, which is what he'll get if he doesn't go -
Re: What happens if you don't turn up to your exam?If he'd get an X for not turning up and getting 0. Then how could turning up drag his grade down?(Original post by disasterfrog)

Re: What happens if you don't turn up to your exam?
If he only has a D overall so far (I presume that's what you mean), then not turning up will drag his grade down to an E, and he won't get into uni

Either you are explaining this wrong, or your friend is mad.
Edit: Ok, the coursework might redeem it - I'm sure he's worked out the gradings, and it's possible that he already has a guaranteed D. However, he may as well go - why not try and get a C? It could help him later on, and the alternative is just 2 hours of nothing.Last edited by Octohedral; 11-06-2012 at 20:57. -
Re: What happens if you don't turn up to your exam?Turning up and writing nothing will have the same effect as not turning up at all. Whatever he writes in the exam tomorrow will be more beneficial to his grade than not turning up and getting zero.(Original post by disasterfrog)

Re: What happens if you don't turn up to your exam? This is what I meant! I thought this would ruin his chances of uni, but he thought that by not turning up he would just get the D grade!(Original post by Octohedral)

Re: What happens if you don't turn up to your exam? It's possible he has worked out the marks for his coursework etc, and found that he will get a D even with the zero. Even so, I would still go.(Original post by disasterfrog)
