Re: Ask me your questions! *Final year student*
I am currently repeating 60 credits part-time (out of 120 for a whole year) at level 2 for an Economics Bsc degree, and this year my grades are uncapped due to mitigating circumstances that were accepted by the board last year. What I wanted to know is, will I get one or two retakes this August if I don't pass an exam, typically they allow up to 40 credits of retakes in August for a full-time student. Obviously this year is a repeat, so I don't know the protocol, I would imagine I'd get a 20 credits retake as that would make it the same proportion as 40/120 credits for a full-time student, but I really haven't got a clue, nobody at uni seems to know either, would appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this. Don't know if this is the right thread to ask in but yeah.. :/

Re: Ask me your questions! *Final year student*
Hey I'm looking for some guidance cause I seem to get dismissed everytime i talk about this topic almost as if I shouldn't even consider it but I am only human and determination and dreams don't just fade away because an elder person tells you otherwise.
To simplify the full story I'm not doing great in my courses (college bio and chem) and even if i did do I wouldn't be able to apply for medicine or should i say get through the competition because my GCSE's seem to be limiting me in terms of that I only have 2 A's and 3B's then 5C's so i was wondering what the shortest life science is that i could do which i can achieve atleast a 2:2 so that i can go on to do graduate medicine and qualify as a Bachelor of medicine and surgery ? Or is that even a goo idea? Should i look into biomed and then transfer to medicine when i have the money? -
Re: Ask me your questions! *Final year student*this might sound silly but how do en suite rooms - flat layout and corridor layout differ? like how do the flat layout halls look?(Original post by homebythefence)
Hi guys!
I had a load of help when I was an A Level student from this subforum - so here I am, just about to go into my final year so I thought I'd offer some help!

Re: Ask me your questions! *Final year student*Best take a look at the accommodation site - they've got all the hall plans under each listing...(Original post by LisaDR)

...or a big grid of their respective facilities.

Bishop is similar (around eight or nine to a flat, I think), as is the Lancaster Complex. So's Isambard, but that's generally (possibly only?) for final-years and postgraduates.

Re: Ask me your questions! *Final year student*
Hello,
l have already been accepted into Brunel for my postgrad in Literature but I found out only last week that due to some technical error, an offer from Queen Mary did not reach me. My visa is under processing with Brunel as my sponsor but I'm having cold feet. Have I made the right decision in choosing Brunel for furthering my studies in literature?
Thanks.

Re: Ask me your questions! *Final year student*Hi,(Original post by bestfriends33)
Hello
Do you know anyone studing either Economics or Education at Brunel? These are the courses I need to chose from and am just wondering how good they are..
Also, if you are finding your degree difficult is there help sessions available, do the lecturers/ teachers help you further?
Lastly, do Brunel interview you before you are accepted? Or is it just a matter of grades and personal statement?
Thankyou very much!
I've just finished my first year of economics. I personally liked my first year and if you attent your lectures and seminars, you'll do well. I got a 2:1 this year, thankfully. The lectures are quite good, espiecally maths and macroeconomics however the microeconomics lecturer, you may not like. Stats lecturer is boring but if you listen, you'll soon realise how good of a teacher he is. The seminar teachers are not so great, expect for maths. I'd recommend this course. Good Luck!!!!!! -

I am a 1st year LAW LLB student and had a question about class schedules. When are they released and how can i view mine? By schedule i mean the date and time of lecturers, seminars etc... -
Re: Ask me your questions! *Final year student*You'll get them in your first week - you'll have occasional introductory sessions where the lecturers introduce themselves, explain what you'll be doing, hand out timetables, etc.(Original post by gsidhu)

You'll most likely get a printed copy. If not you'll be able to look it up on Brunel's Horribly-Overcomplicated-To-The-Point-Of-Being-Near-Unusable Super Fun Timetable System. -
Re: Ask me your questions! *Final year student*
Basically iv messed my self up. I have made such a huge silly mistake. I accidently mixed my firm and insurance up. Brunnel was supposed to be my firm but now has become my insurance. I dont even want to go to ,my so called firm which is wesminister,. I have have two options adjustment? or clearing?
I am so confused atm. I would appreciate any type of help for my position. What is the availability of business management courses through clearing at brunnel? will i get in??

On results day you could call your first choice uni and ask them to reject you so you will automatically be accepted into your insurance choice. You will need to be persuasive, but im sure the uni will allow you do this as at the end of the day it is your choice.(Original post by Sully@sjc)

I did sort of the same thing and had to swap my firm and insurance choices, but that was in may and i just called each university as well as ucas. It wasnt a long process at all and after a few days it changed on ucas. Might be too late for that now but you should try to at least call the ucas first and ask for advice.
Good luck

Re: Ask me your questions! *Final year student*Worth taking a look at the hall floor plans on the Accommodation website.(Original post by Saarik)
Hey, was wondering how big the kitchens are? It's 11 per kitchen, right? But I'm pretty sure I remember it being not much bigger than 4 x 4m... Doesn't it get a bit.. cozy?
alllso how are the Psychology lecturers? Any to watch out for?
Cheers!
Having stayed in Borough Road Hall (Lancaster Complex) and now West Hall (Isambard Complex) I can vouch for the kitchens being easily bigger than 4x4. Individual rooms are 5x3-ish at least.
Number per kitchen depends on your hall, but eight to 10 is fairly typical, and there's a numbered cupboard for each person that corresponds to their room. Bear in mind that it's unlikely you'll have more than a couple cooking in the kitchen at the same time. Unless your flat residents all become a giant friend group, you'll probably generally find yourself making your own meal arrangements at whatever time suits you.

Re: Ask me your questions! *Final year student*Can't find anything either way on the mini fridge. I'm fairly sure I've heard they aren't allowed. I have a microwave but that definitely isn't!(Original post by brownshuga91)
Hey
Was wondering what kind of things arent allowed in your room...like are u allowed to have a mini fridge or a travel iron?
Brunel facilities guide and UBS freshers' week checklist might come in handy.

Re: Ask me your questions! *Final year student*You're not allowed mini fridges but I knew plenty of people who did have, some claimed exceptions for dietary or religious reasons others just got away with it.(Original post by brownshuga91)

A travel iron should be fine, just iron in the kitchen to be a bit safer.
