Cell phone deals and coverage in Manchester
Hello all. I am an inernational student starting my MA in the University of Manchester. Me and my girlfriend will probably be living somewhere in the city center or closer to the Uni, and we want to know where can we find the best cellular deals and the best cellular coverage? I'm reffereing not only to the city center and university area, but to the majority of the city (since my gf will be looking for a job in the city).
A friend who lives in Cambridge recommended Giff-Gaff, a virtual operator which runs on the O2 network. Are they good? Do they have good coverage in Manchester? Are there any more good recommendations?
Many thanks,

Re: Cell phone deals and coverage in Manchester
Seeing as you're living in a big city, you will probably find alot of networks are catered for. I heard somewhere Vodafone got the best signal, however I switched to Vodafone back in January having previously been on Orange during my first term here and I have noticed no difference. Both work really well in both my halls and in the city. I've heard things about 3 not working in my halls and in some other areas, though.
I don't know much about Giff-Gaff and any of those type of networks though, not really something I've ever looked into.
In terms of deals, I have Iphone 4S on Vodafone, think it's £41 which includes unlimited texts,1GB of internet and 900 minutes. I don't think it's too bad, but at the end of the day, I don't actually pay for it, my mum does. :P Your best bet might be to use a price compare website when it comes to these sorts of things. -
Re: Cell phone deals and coverage in Manchester
As tillytots says, coverage is fine in Manchester. I'm with Orange and have always had signal (with the exception of inside one university building, which manages to block almost everyone's signal!).
Carphone Warehouse is a good place to have a look, as they cover all the major networks, and this is quite a good guide http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/ (click on the 'mobiles' tab) -

If you have a particular handset in mind I found the cnet price comparison to be great, searched websites I've never heard of for the Galaxy S3.
