I said because it has warmth, moisture and oxygen, which bacteria can break down food really well in

What did you all put for reason why respiration happened more in tropical rainforests? X
i guessed - More heat and sunshine available

I said that it sped up decay because of the warm moist, aerobic conditions, and so the amount of respiration increased.

I thought that the plant uses the energy from the sun for live processes, such as respiration, excretion ,etc

    Is that right ?
    Do plants excrete? :s

Do you think that because the exam is quite hard this year, grade boundaries will go down?
I'm guessing the grade boundarie will be about 44-47 out of 60 because it was more difficult thant the January 2012 question paper. The questions were very straight forward for the January 2012 paper and many people find the January 2012 paper quite easy when they did it.

The grade boundaries for Jan paper was 48/60, so this one should be a couple of marks lower, like 47/60.
Not to worry people. A grade is about 38 or 39 out of 60 I'm sure everyone did fine

    Do plants excrete? :s
It means releasing energy I think, but that's what my biology teacher said. They don't literally excrete, but they do release waste products.
I dunno probably messed that question up ?

The carbon cycle and the algae thing.....it was respiration I think because eventhough the plants take in co2 for photosynthesis they release carbon dioxide to atmosphere when they respire...hope thts right..and the microorganisms work better in tropical rainforests because it is more moist and has more oxygen + its hot which they like the best....is tht right?

For the why does decay happen in a tropical rain forest question. If I wrote "Tropical rain forests have more moist and warm conditions meaning that microorganisms can repoduce faster" how many marks would that get me

I put respiration, i'm sure the arrow was going from the microorganisms to the atmosphere (May be wrong), and decomposers return carbon by respiring and producing CO2, which returns it.

But there was already an Arrow from the algae to the Atmosphere to show respiration, so why would algae go to microorganisms and then back to the atmosphere for respiration again?
