Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 2012i guessed - More heat and sunshine available(Original post by Harriett7)
What did you all put for reason why respiration happened more in tropical rainforests? X -
Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 2012I said that it sped up decay because of the warm moist, aerobic conditions, and so the amount of respiration increased.(Original post by Harriett7)

Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 2012Do plants excrete? :s(Original post by Crystallouise99)
I thought that the plant uses the energy from the sun for live processes, such as respiration, excretion ,etc
Is that right ? -
Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 2012I'm guessing the grade boundarie will be about 44-47 out of 60 because it was more difficult thant the January 2012 question paper. The questions were very straight forward for the January 2012 paper and many people find the January 2012 paper quite easy when they did it.(Original post by Navdeep)
Do you think that because the exam is quite hard this year, grade boundaries will go down?
The grade boundaries for Jan paper was 48/60, so this one should be a couple of marks lower, like 47/60.
Not to worry people. A grade is about 38 or 39 out of 60 I'm sure everyone did fine -
Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 2012It means releasing energy I think, but that's what my biology teacher said. They don't literally excrete, but they do release waste products.(Original post by Navdeep)
Do plants excrete? :s
I dunno probably messed that question up ?

Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 2012
The carbon cycle and the algae thing.....it was respiration I think because eventhough the plants take in co2 for photosynthesis they release carbon dioxide to atmosphere when they respire...hope thts right..and the microorganisms work better in tropical rainforests because it is more moist and has more oxygen + its hot which they like the best....is tht right?

Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 2012Yes I think so, it is similar to what I put xxx(Original post by HELP1996)

Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 2012Did u mention about it containing more oxygen i think u will get full marks because u provided 2 reasons(Original post by RohanV)
For the why does decay happen in a tropical rain forest question. If I wrote "Tropical rain forests have more moist and warm conditions meaning that microorganisms can repoduce faster" how many marks would that get me -
Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 2012i put almost the exact same thing, how many marks was it out of?(Original post by RohanV)

Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 2012Isnt that gene splicing...where they take the unncessary gene out and replace it with the useful gene....thts wht i said anyway...is tht right?(Original post by Chloe100100)
What did people put for the zebra fish question, about how they did it ? -
Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 2012bellend(Original post by Shavhi)
yeah, so grade boundaries might be high, cause it was easy -
Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 20122 or 3 I think(Original post by exploded-diagram)

Re: New Spec AQA Biology B1 (Unit 1) Exam: June 12th 2012But there was already an Arrow from the algae to the Atmosphere to show respiration, so why would algae go to microorganisms and then back to the atmosphere for respiration again?(Original post by HELP1996)
