having trouble with what comes first.

do you use gene probes to identify fragments which contain a gene you want and then isolate these fragments with restriction enzymes

OR

do you use restriction enzymes to isolate the fragments containing the desired gene and then use gene probes to identify the fragments you do want from the fragments you don't?

Restriction enzymes are used to break up dna into fragments, then DNA probes are added to each fragment. The computers analyse each fragment and see if the dna probe has annealed because the probe is marked or something
