    Nottingham Insurance accomodation
I have put Nottingham as my insurance choice and I'm worried that I wont get halls if I don't get into my first choice.

Has anyone managed to get into halls with Nottingham as an insurance choice?

I'm in exactly the same position, I think we will get into halls just the last choice options which no doubt will be Broadgate. Have you been to see it?

Broadgate is last choice?! It was the first to fill up and the most popular and probably the largest single hall in Nottingham. And technically all the halls are private apart from those on a campus. They also aren't specific to course choice so just because you're doing Comp Sci doesn't mean you'd be on jubilee...you can go wherever just as long as there's space.

You will find somewhere, but you may need to be prepared to settle for anything. Some won't make their offers and I would imagine those places then go to those who go through clearing or come to Notts as an insurance choice.

The main room option at Broadgate filled up at roughly the same time. Places like Opal 1 and Riverside Point probably have spaces left but not certain.

I'm in the same position and haven't sorted out accommodation yet. I was thinking of just going for "private accommodation".

I don't know why its the most popular, when I went to look round on an open day it wasn't very nice. My friends dad actually described it as a 'concentration camp' but I wouldn't go that far. My first choice would be Raleigh Park - I think its called? Have you firmed Nottingham?

Broadgate is literally across the road from the campus if I remember correctly. Private like St Peters court which I went to look at was cheaper and 10x nicer, but its not as fun apparently. Whats your first choice?

My first choice is York, they want AB but I don't know if im going to get an A in ICT it all depends on how they mark the course work.

Yeah just afraid of being left out from things on campus, but i would rather have self catered than catered and all the campus choices are catered, so i suppose on off campus would be too bad.

    What is your first choice?

Ahhh I doubt we will be left out of things off-campus. If we end up at Nottingham do we apply for it online do you know... like on results day?

My first choice is Hull so not that far away from York! The course is really good, I just wish it was at Nottingham!

I can't speak for main campus availability, but usually Raleigh Park and St Peters Court have spaces for people who didn't get campus accommodation, and as it is self-catered it is a lot cheaper. The reason the halls on campus on Jubilee are so expensive is that they are both catered and en-suite.

Broadgate, Raleigh Park and St Peters Court are all university 'approved' halls (you still get a JCR and included in all the events and shiz)

:yy: Was in Raleigh Park for two years, is as decent halls for the price as any others I have seen (and better than a fair few)

Across the road from West Entrance. If you are doing a science, you have a 15-30 minute walk to get to your buildings. It is also the opposite side of campus to the side that Jubilee Campus is on.

As above, then you won't get left out from events / anything that happens on campus by being in Raleigh / St Peters / Broadgate. You might miss out a little if you were in Opal for instance, or similar - but even then you will still be included.

I emailed them a while ago and they said that you have to arrange accommodation once you know you are definitely going to Nottingham, what is your offer for Hull and Nottingham, for York mine is AB + Welsh Bacc, Notthingham BB +Welsh Bacc

Yeah I had a look around Raleigh Park and it looked really nice and is close to the computer science campus and close to the city, did you mainly do things with people from there or did you go on campus much apart from lectures?

A bit of both doing things with my flat mates (and during freshers week, you do events with your hall and usually a couple of other halls - the other halls you go with change so you get to meet more new people I think), and then once term had started I also started doing things with some societies (TEC, 10pin bowling & RockSoc). Do most of my studying (lectures and revision) on Jubilee, only really on main campus for any society / social stuff which starts there and exams. Most social things are off-campus though I have found, so it wasn't a disadvantage being off campus, just meant a 10 minute extra walk for lectures and stuff.

Ok thank-you! I take it your Welsh then? I know quite a few people who are going to Cardiff actually, meant to be really nice. For Hull I need AAB and they accept general studies as a full a-level which is great! Nottingham I need ABB. Fingers crossed

Wow, so you thought it looked crap yet you come from Preston?! It's right next to the campus, in one of the better inner-city areas of Nottingham and has loads of other students to meet. The rooms aren't great but you can say that about every accommodation option in the country because they are what they are.

    Yes, I firmed Nottingham.

Well I live in Wales not really Welsh though :L Welsh bacc is like general studies and most of my offers accepted it as a A grade A level even though you can do it in 1 year :L

There's no way I'm going to get into my first choice, so I'm really hoping that I can get something on Campus. There will be people who firmed Nottingham that don't get in, so I guess we can have that accommodation if we get there quick enough. I'm not exactly fussy about room type or anything....I just hope I get something.
