Re: AQA GCSE Chemistry Exam Unit 1 (C1) 15th June 2012 (New Spec.)Most of them said it went well, others debating over certain questions, typical ICHS after an important exam lol :PBy the way how did everyone else find the chemistry exam yesterday in your school, since you go Ilford County High ???

Re: AQA GCSE Chemistry Exam Unit 1 (C1) 15th June 2012 (New Spec.)
It's funny. After the Biology exam, everyone came out saying that it was absolutely horrible. I come on here and find that practically everyone found it either okay or easy. After the Chemistry exam, everyone in my year came out saying that it was okay/easy. Come on here to find that practically everyone found it hard.
The Biology paper involved a lot of analysing of things, whether it was graphs or information and then using/applying that information. The Chemistry paper was mainly just factual information which is probably why everyone in my year found the paper fine and just generally a lot easier than the Biology paper, because all it really involved was just knowing your stuff. I didn't really do any revision at all until the day of the actual exam which was in the afternoon, so I spent the morning revising as much as possible from the CGP AQA revision guide and just listening to people in my year ramble on about what they had revised. Worked for me. Found the paper fine.
When our school comes to questions that aren't purely factual, we start to over-think things and because of that, we put in a lot of stuff in our answers that are not needed to get the marks. The answer may have just been a very simple statement but we would write complicated answers and so lose the marks. -
Re: AQA GCSE Chemistry Exam Unit 1 (C1) 15th June 2012 (New Spec.)250kg for the ore question(Original post by BLTontour)
What did you all get for;
Ore graph calculation,
Plastic bags one,
Fermentation of ethanol, what could you see?
What were the questions of the factional distillation of air and liquids?!
I put soo many disadvantages but couldn't think of many advantages in fact I only put one advantage
.
For the fermentation one i put you could see bubbles because co2 was produced.
What did you put ?? -

What do people think the grade boundaries will be?

46- A*
37- A
etc -
If you look at the graph one logically it said if the amount of pure metal was 300 what is the weight of the impurities it means that you take 300 away from the impure one, it gave you the amount for the pure one why do some of you have different answers for the amount of pure metal?

Me and my entire class got 200(Original post by krishna123)
So what did you get as the answer?

Re: AQA GCSE Chemistry Exam Unit 1 (C1) 15th June 2012 (New Spec.)
You got question 4 wrong it was 250KG I believe as it was 750kg - 500kg = 250KG. I am 100% sure on that question as something similar came up with past papers and that's how you do it.
(Original post by Em019)
heres a rough unofficial mark scheme for the first section of the paper:
(if I am wrong on any just correct me
)
1. what are the two sub atomic particles in nucleus?
Protons and neutrons.
2. Why is atom A unreative?
It's highest occupied shell is full- this means it does not need to react with anything to make it stable as it already is.
3. Which two atoms react in the same way and why?
Atoms B and C because they both have the same number of electrons on their outer shell which means they are most likely to react with the same elements in order to become stable.
4.find the mass of..[can' remember exect question or numbers]?
240kg
hope this helps..
