so i started to take contraceptive pills because my doctor prescribed them to me, due to my irregular periods, but i also think now that ive been taking them, that im gaining weight because of them? is that possible? my doctor said there was no side effects and its not helping my self esteem either :\

Contraceptive pills have different side effects for everyone - I'm on the pill and didn;t get any weight gain, but I know some people do. When you next to go get your prescription maybe mention that it's a concern for you to you GP, and she might be able to suggest a different brand of pill you can try? (I'm on cerazette)
But remember, eating healthily and doing a bit of excrsize can't go amiss either :P

If your docotr told you that the contraceptive pill has no side effects then they have lied to you.
Every different type of contraceptive pill has different side effects for everyone, most people will find some form of side effect from the pill.
Whether it be your mood change.
Your skin changes, less/more blemishes.
Your weight changes, loss/gain.
The pill can thin your hair.
It can make your hair grow quicker.
It can make you depressed.
It can make your periods heavier/lighter.


I've been on 4 or 5 different types of contraceptive pill and they all had different effects.

If you are unhappy, ask to try a different pill.

Which pill are you on now? Microglynon?

im on the co-cyprindiol pill, i actually have started to feel that at the top of my head the hair is thinning.. and when im trying to lose weight theres no effect what so ever :\
