SAAS repeat year help
Hi guys, sorry if this is in the wrong place, just a bit confused really.
Bit of background: Student studying in Scotland, was unable to complete the year due to illness, and am looking to go back to uni in September to continue my studies.
I applied for SAAS last week and received a letter today stating that no tuition fees were going to be paid by SAAS and that i'd get minimum loan. (This was because I didn't fill out parent's income as I didn't see that on the application)
The letter I received today states that my parents have to fill out the AB36 form. Their income hasn't changed since last year so do they still need to send proof along with this booklet?
Also, the letter states I need to send SAAS a copy of my letter from my uni stating that I'm allowed to resit the year (which I have but was told the uni would send a copy directly to SAAS) and a letter from my doctor which explains my illness and how it affected me and that it must confirm that i'm fit to return to uni.
This is where I am a wee bit confused, when will SAAS need this in by in order to process my application correctly? I am not due to go back to my GP for another 3/4 weeks as I was just there 2 days ago and how can I say i'm going to be fit to return to my studies when it's 3 months away? I just got a 'not fit for work' note handed to me when I was there so how can she go write a note saying that i'm fit to go back to uni?
Sorry it's so long but i'm a bit confused. I just can't deal with this just now and really need to sort out about getting my fees paid and the correct amount of loan from SAAS. My head is spinning. They will pay my fees right? I couldn't afford to go back if they don't.
Thanks in advance! -
Re: SAAS repeat year help
To get the correct amount of loan you need to send the income form back to SAAS - this is for the income assessed part of your award (ie loan)
You can send letter from your doctor or uni at any time. But in order to have your fees in place for the start of the course you should try to get this as soon as possible. If you can't get it soon, just tell your uni so they know you are still waiting for SAAS docs so they don't suddenly lump you with bill for fees. As long as you keep in touch with uni finance department RE fees - it should be OK
