How do I reduce appearance of stretch marks
apologies if this isn't in the right forum, wasn't sure what category this fell into but anyway .....
I gained a bit of weight quite quickly (my own fault I pigged out a lot at uni) and as a result I've developed stretch marks but now I'm trying to lose the weight and I was wondering if anyone knew anything which helped reduce the appearance of stretch marks at all? -
Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marksI forgot about bio oil but I've heard mixed reviews over it, it worked for some but not others but defintely worth a shot, thanks(Original post by followmeup)
Use Bio Oil. Worked wonders for me and it's specially formulated for just that

Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marks
I used Bio Oil for a year and didn't work... now I used palmer's cocoa butter (much cheaper but still not many results). To be honest, I did start using it years (like 5) after my stetch marks appeared. I'm not saying you shouldn't give it a go
, that's just my story so you don't get too disappointed if it doesn't work.

Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marksI get where you're coming from and, like the OP has stated, it works for some and not everyone. I started using bio oil probably about 7-8 years after I had the stretch marks and I had different results.(Original post by Nightingale)

The trick with bio oil that most people seem to miss is that you HAVE to use it twice a day everyday for at least 3 months. Don't just use after a shower once a day and maybe sometimes when you're in a rush you miss it or use it for 3 months and expect results.
On my stretch marks it took me about 5-7 months to notice the results. It won't make them disappear (nothing makes them disappear according to my research but I could be wrong) but it makes them less noticeable and when you touch the area you won't be able to feel them.
I think you should get it, OP. If you do, get it from amazon because on most stores the price is ridiculous. I even use it on my acne scars and I really can't live without it now

Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marksWhen researching this whole thing it's been very mixed on what works as some things work for others and some don't but I did see that on a review on amazon the person did point out that most people hadn't been putting it on twice a day so that could possibly be why it hasn't worked for some. I know they won't go away completely but a just making them less visible would make me happy(Original post by katyness)

Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marksI've never heard of pure vitamin E oil, is it expensive?(Original post by Sheikh {/} Nykaa)
bio oil did absolutely nothing for me/friends/family its better at preventing stretchmarks and is not effective on old stretchmarks...what worked really well for me is pure vitamin E oil, messaged it into affected areas twice daily.

Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marksmy stretch marks are fairly recent so that's why I want to sort them out as soon as possible but thanks for sharing I'm just trying to weigh up what's worked for people and what hasn't so I can make a decision on something but there doesn't seem to be a clear winner right now(Original post by Nightingale)

Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marksYes. I researched about bio oil for a good 2-3 months before I bought it for the first time. I read all possible reviews and then decided to buy because the truth is, most people will put it on after showering if they usually take a shower before bed or for those who take a shower in the morning some days they will remember to and some others they might be late and leave it. I put it on my bedside table and made sure it was the first thing I saw in the morning and I'd use it accordingly. Even so, it took a long time to see results but bio oil it's not a quick fix, trust me. For whatever you use, it will take a long time.(Original post by Batmonkey)

As I said, I now use it for acne scars and it's tedious to wait but you've got to be persistent with it. -
Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marks
I used Bio Oil on my face because I had scars and tbh it was awful and greasy and didn't absorb into my skin. That's just my experience though. I've never used it on stretchmarks though I've used Cocoa Butter which was good, and smells delish (like chocolate)

Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marksI understand it will take a while, I'm not a very patient person mind but I better get used to it. I think if I was to get your idea of putting it on the bedside table is a good idea or maybe if i put it next to my laptop I definitely wouldn't forget it(Original post by katyness)

Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marksI've heard cocoa butter smells like chocolate, probably won't be good for diet motivation though(Original post by Cherriesxo)

but I think I'll be having a closer look into some more reviews on cocoa butter and Bio Oil

Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marksNot really, its cheaper than bio oil at least, i got mine from holland and barratts (roughly £7), its a really thick gel that lasts a while...so you can check health stores or ebay will probs be cheaper. The most effective ingredient in most of these stretchmark oils is vitamin E so thats probably why i found it so effective(Original post by Batmonkey)

Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marksI used cocoa butter before switching to bio oil. They both take a while to work and they both feel like it forms a soft coat on top of your skin so that when you touch it feels soft. The main difference is that bio oil's coat stays even after showering but cocoa butter's "disappears" after showering.(Original post by Batmonkey)

Do you get what I mean? I think that was confusing

Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marksNo I get what you mean and thanks for that, I think Bio Oil is the way to go(Original post by katyness)

Re: How do I reduce appearance of stretch marks
Have you heard of 'nature's eraser'? Or the original homemade version of it, shea butter mixed with olive oil and vitamin e. You can buy that mixture as 'body butter beautiful' if you can't be bothered mixing them yourselves, or invest in 'nature's eraser', I've read some very good reviews on it:

, that's just my story so you don't get too disappointed if it doesn't work.
