Cannot stand Andy Townsend.
Does anyone else share my hatred for andy Townsend? I just hate his voice and his naivety in commentating. Possibly the most annoying clueless commentator ever. One of these guys who you want to punch in the face. Repeatedly.

Re: Cannot stand Andy Townsend.
As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I shouted, "YES!" in a very loud voice. Most of the ITV team, pundits and commentators alike, are horrific. Andy Townsend is Mr. State the Obvious, Clive Tyldsley would be better off being a DJ for children's discos and don't even get me started on Adrian Chiles... I have more fun watching carrots grow in a field...
This was a genuine line I heard in the England vs France game from Townsend:
"Hart would have wanted to save that Clive.."
You don't say Andy! For God's sake...
ITV have Gareth Southgate, Adrian Chiles and Patrick bloody Vieira
BBC have the legend that is Clarence Seedorf, the sometimes funny Lineker and 'Arry Redknapp who actually speaks sense! -

Re: Cannot stand Andy Townsend.True, although Roy Keane speaks alot of sense. Often see a look of complete disgust on his face whilst Southgate/Chiles are speaking.(Original post by MittenRef)

Re: Cannot stand Andy Townsend.Beglin isn't much of an upgrade.(Original post by Aky786UK)
I wish ITV had left him that shed they put him in when ITV had the Saturday football highlights for him to do his "analysis". I hate him on commentary, he's just about bearable when he is in the studio.
Give me Jim Beglin anyday over him in the commentary box.
In fact, all three of ITV's commentary pairs (Tyldesley/Townsend, Drury/Beglin and Champion/Burley) are absolutely shocking. -
Re: Cannot stand Andy Townsend.Yep, Keano is straight up about what he thinks and often I get the impression that he's wondering why he even bothers turning up to sit against Adrian "I have no clue" Chiles!(Original post by Zürich)
True, although Roy Keane speaks alot of sense. Often see a look of complete disgust on his face whilst Southgate/Chiles are speaking.

According to Stewart Lee Adrian Chiles is a Toby Jug filled to the brim with Hot P*** -
Re: Cannot stand Andy Townsend.
I don't see a problem with Andy Townsend. Yes he may state the obvious, but he is a commentator, isn't that what he's meant to do? The indepth analysis you are looking for comes after the match, please.
He speaks sense, no doubt about it, I've watched every single Euro 2012 game and haven't approached anything outrageous; it's quite the contrary and in fact he takes a very laudable, concise and prudent approach.
The one commentator I detest is Mark Bright on BBC; I seem to cringe with every erroneous or conspicuously diverging comment he makes.Last edited by DrumChops; 19-06-2012 at 23:36. Reason: Mark "Bright" -

Much prefer the BBC (and Chris Moyle's commentary - never laughed so much while watching a game of football in my life
).

Re: Cannot stand Andy Townsend. He's friggin' useless, along with whoever he was working with on the Spain v Croatia match.(Original post by Dorito)
he's awful but the worst one has to be Mark Bright. -
Re: Cannot stand Andy Townsend.Shamelessly stolen from the Sam Allerdyce parody account on twitter, but it's brilliant.(Original post by Dorito)

Comparing Clarence Seedorf and Mark Bright, "And now we go from Clarence's sweet, soulful tones back to Mark Bright sounding like an anxious, confused cretin, trapped in a lift." -
Re: Cannot stand Andy Townsend.Nope, isn't that what Clive is for? The standard setup for the commentary box is your commentator who actually talks about what's going on and then usually an ex-player/pundit to analyse the game AS IT'S BEING PLAYED. Which is very possible, you know.(Original post by DrumChops)
