    Economics?!
    Should I choose to do economics at university? Also is there anyone who's done the course who can give me advice as to how it is and what career opportunities are like after graduation?
    I'm undecided between economics, business and maths

    I had this exact dilema, I've applied to do economics as I think it can lead to loads of different careers but I would love to see what people that have done it think!

    I'm just slightly worried that demand for economists might have dropped and that finding a career after an economics degree would be difficult. University is a really big decision /:

    Settle down now children

    Economics doesn't equal economist in the vast (VAST) majority of cases. How many economists do you think we need? Economics is a well rounded degree that gives you a strong basis in qualitative and quantitative work. It's a degree which reflects your ability as an individual and is therefore generally well regarded by employers. Similarly, Mathematics and Business degrees have wide ranging career prospects providing you achieve well.

    The following questions are important;

    1) What would you enjoy studying? You're more likely to do well at a subject you enjoy.

    2) What career path are you interested in? Certain degrees are more suited towards certain careers.

    1) interested in business, economics and maths, all equally, which doesn't really help my decision
    2) the highest paying career, no matter what it is (I don't believe in doing what you love)

    I know that doesn't help much, but that's where I'm really stuck. Economics looks the most rewarding of the 3, so I'm more in favour of that at the moment

    If you're pay orientated you're probably looking at finance roles. Economics is a very well regarded degree for those kind of positions, so if that's the one you're currently favouring then go for it. Good luck
