I have a modular paper which I found online. It is on this website

I am having difficulties on how they got the answer for question 5. Can someone explain how they got the answer. The answers are at the bottom of the document.

I honestly don't know.
Personally, i would have said £8 was the fixed charge because that is where it crosses the y-axis (from there on in it is then charged at 8+ whatever it is per mile.

ive done a few of the sample papers andthere appears to be a lot of dodgy questions, im really stuggling to prepare for this exam theres so much content

yeah some of the questions are so tricky. I really don't know how I am going to pass and I really wanted to get an A* as well. I don't why schools choose to do this exam board when it is difficult.

Need an unofficial mark scheme!! Hope the grade boundaries are low i think i dropped about 8 marks! is it just me or was the simultaneous equation question ridiculously hard!?

For the simultaneous equations I got x= 2/3 and y=-1.5
It was really hard
For the first question I think I got 20 cm, I can't remember
For the direct proportion question, I got y= 60 X
Then when x was 540 I multiplied 540 x 60, I can't remember everything, and I probably have a lot of things wrong! I really want an A, but I would be happy with a B

I thought it was really hard too!! I definately got -1.5 for one of them but not sure what I put down for X!

i found the exam difficult i just need a pass
i hated the last question
i got 8.56 or something like that which is annoying as loads of ppl said different answers
i used the cosine rule to find out what the 3rd side was for the triangle then from there i carried on

i think i got 8.56 too and yeah it was cosine and then sine rule

Yeah, i did cosine rule the sine rule. The paper was easy, no circle theorms

the last question in the exam wasnt 8.56, doing the cosine and then the sine

It was 5.82, the question with cosine rule and sine rule
