    Jan 2011 core 4 question 6?
    How does 2tanx+tanx(1-tan^2x) show tanx=0 and tan^2x=3??

    2tanx + tanx - tan^3x

    tanx(3-tan^2x)

    so tanx=0 or tan^2x=3

    basically you can expand and factorise or just factorise out the tanx
