    Good uni! What course though?
Sport and Social Sciences, clearly PE is a valid subject.

You're never going to win on these forums, unless you study science and maths you're doing doss subjects and should kill yourself apparently. The amount of times people have told me drama is a doss subject and "all about acting" is hilarious, I'm guessing it's the same for PE - people assume it's "all playing sports" which is also rubbish?

Sport and Social Sciences, there are 700 applicants and only 70 get in, clearly PE is a valid subject.

You didn't mention that until now! I see PE is useful only if you're studying it is what I was meaning. The reason for now PE subforum is because it is closely linked to science.

Whether I was studying PE at Uni or not I'd still believe it was a valid subject to have.

I've been looking all over for a discussion just for PE and I can't find one anywhere?! Why isn't PE featured?

Very clever, give yourself a pat on the back for that one. And no of course, you're completely right! P.E's not a qualification if its been listed in Cambridge's official qualification guide. Oh dear, Welcome to tsr
    You're missing the point

...without PE the large majority of people would probably be over weight, if not obese. PE reduces the strain on the NHS and improves health. It is an academic subject. The physiology side includes things that are on the biology syllabus such as the sliding filament theory etc and the psychology side involves theories and parts of the syllabus in psychology. The contemporary section looks at the history of sport and it's development through the industrial revaluation, urbanisation (something I've covered on my history course) as well as the Olympics ...I could go on.

I agree with you the physiology behind PE is very academic, and TSR should have a section for PE in HE (and also other sports related degrees).

However I disagree that without PE, we would all be obese. I used to be a fat kid and my PE teachers were such bullying dicks that they out me off exercise.

The only reason I am no longer overweight is because others bullied me because of my weight (which almost caused an eating disorder) and the PE teachers allowed it, even in full view and hearing of it.

This country already has an issue with obesity, and PE teachers IMO are doing very little to prevent it. Obesity is caused by the Childs eating habits at home, not by how much they are forced to run at school.

I may have exaggerated slightly about the obesity comment but I still think PE goes a long way in, at least trying, to keep our nation healthy!

In theory, yes. In reality, it is often not the case. But I agree with the thread, there should be a forum for sports related degrees.

Lol I like how the thread now implies that not having a column about PE on TSR results in fat kids around the nation

TSR has a large population of bigoted students, bent on spreading the word of how good they are at more academic subjects.

And as business rules state; no demand; no supply.
That's actually basic economics, but...lets not go there.
