27, Looking at my options
Im 27, have had a number of jobs in the past, but have never really known what Id like to do.
I have been researching into Occupational Therapy, and certainly appeals to me. I am thinking of going to do some voluntary work in a clinic to get a feel for it. If that goes well, im then thinking of a OU course for a year, then a 3 year degree in OT starting sept 2013.
At that time I will be 28, 29 in the December. I live with my girlfriend at the moment, in a rented appartment ( Which her parents own)
Id really like to throw myself at this, all being well I have a good experience working along side a OT. But the age factor, and also thinking how am I going to get buy just working part time is holding me back a bit. I have no major debts, other than paying for rent and car finance, and the usual type of bills,so im not in a bad position in that way. ( Also there is no tuition fees with the course as funded by NHS)
Just wondering how people get by, and if anyone has been in a similar situation?
Many thanks

Hi, the OU course is K101, an introduction to health and social care, it cost £750 as Its a 1 module course that runs from oct-July, if ur quick u may still be able to register, but I would check with your chosen uni this is accepted, I know it is for Cardiff, I started my UCAS application yest, so excited. I'm 33, from Wales. Been working alongside OTS now for a few years, and love it! X

Re: 27, Looking at my options
Good luck!
I'm thinking of going back to uni, so can't really advise too much about the finance side (not been through it yet)
I notice you are from Norfolk? My friend works as an OT in the N&N, and UEA are very keen on mature students apparently! I think UEA also give you money for doing well (achieving a first, perhaps for AAA at a level, may depend what course....) So those sort of things may give you a boost.
